Manager - Transportation & Logistics Operations - Consumer Goods

About the Role:

A leading consumer goods company is seeking an experienced logistics professional to lead Primary Logistics operations across its Pan-India manufacturing and warehousing network.

The role will be responsible for transportation planning and execution from manufacturing locations to warehouses/distribution centres, freight procurement, transporter management, logistics cost control, compliance, and service delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

- Manage end-to-end primary transportation operations across India.

- Lead annual freight negotiations and transporter contracting.

- Drive transportation cost optimization while ensuring service reliability.

- Ensure timely vehicle placement and dispatch execution from manufacturing locations.

- Monitor transit performance, on-time delivery, freight spend, and transporter KPIs.

- Develop and manage a robust transporter network across key corridors.

- Drive freight benchmarking and identify opportunities for productivity improvement.

- Manage transportation budgets and ensure adherence to approved spend.

- Ensure compliance with transportation regulations and statutory requirements.

- Leverage SAP, TMS, and MIS tools for operational control and decision-making.

- Partner closely with Manufacturing, Warehousing, Supply Chain, Finance, and Commercial teams.

Candidate Profile:

- Full time MBA/PGDM or B.Tech with 6 to 10 years of experience in Primary Logistics, Transportation, Freight Operations, or Supply Chain in a Consumer Durable / FMCG / Retail / Pharma Company.

- Strong experience in plant-to-warehouse transportation management.

- Proven expertise in freight negotiations, transporter development, and carrier management.

- Experience managing transportation budgets and Pan-India logistics networks.

- Working knowledge of SAP and transportation management systems.

- Strong execution, commercial, analytical, and stakeholder management capabilities.
