Role Overview:
The Trade Marketing Manager will be responsible for developing and executing trade marketing strategies that drive brand visibility, availability, and sales within the Nigerian market. This role collaborates closely with the brand management, sales, and distribution teams to ensure alignment of marketing activities with overall business objectives. The Trade Marketing Manager plays a crucial role in optimizing trade spend, managing relationships with key retailers, and ultimately contributing to increased market share and revenue growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement trade marketing plans aligned with brand strategies and sales targets for the Nigerian market.
- Manage trade promotion budgets effectively, ensuring optimal allocation of resources to maximize ROI.
- Design and execute impactful in-store activations, promotions, and merchandising programs to enhance brand visibility and drive sales at the point of purchase.
- Analyze market trends, competitor activities, and sales data to identify opportunities for growth and optimize trade marketing strategies.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key retailers and distributors to secure shelf space, negotiate promotional opportunities, and ensure effective execution of trade marketing programs.
- Collaborate with the sales team to develop and implement effective channel-specific strategies.
- Monitor and evaluate the performance of trade marketing activities, providing regular reports and recommendations for improvement.
- Develop and manage point-of-sale (POS) materials and ensure their effective distribution and placement in retail outlets.
- Train and support the sales team on trade marketing initiatives and best practices.
Required Skillset:
- Demonstrable ability to develop and execute successful trade marketing strategies within the FMCG sector in Nigeria.
- Proven expertise in managing trade promotion budgets and optimizing trade spend.
- Strong understanding of the Nigerian retail landscape and distribution channels.
- Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to interpret sales data and market trends to inform decision-making.
- Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a proactive and results-oriented approach.
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 5-10 years of experience in Trade Marketing or Brand Management within the FMCG industry.
