Role Overview:

The Tax Manager in India plays a crucial role in the Finance and Tax sector of Global Capability Center, contributing significantly to the companys success. This role is pivotal in fostering team collaboration and achieving company goals by setting up and maintaining data and process driven tax functions within the evolving tax landscape and digital transformations. As a Tax Manager, you will interact with key stakeholders including senior management, finance team, and external advisors. Success in this role is measured by meeting deadlines, accuracy in tax filings, minimizing tax liabilities, and efficient processes.

Responsibilities:

- Support global VAT and international tax compliance, including preparation, review, and filing of returns prepared in conjunction with a third-party co-source arrangement.

- Perform end-to-end VAT reconciliation by validating transactional data, reconciling to the general ledger and other relevant data sources, investigating variances, and preparing accurate, audit ready VAT reporting files for filing.

- Maintain accurate VAT ledger by reconciling VAT accounts to VAT returns, balance sheet, income statement, e-reporting and Intrastat filings.

- Maintain robust supporting documentation for VAT reporting, request VAT invoice revisions, and VAT invoice credits as necessary.

- Monitor global VAT legislation changes and assess business impact.

- Oversee the response to day-to-day tax related, both VAT and Income tax, queries and provide practical guidance to finance, procurement, and operations teams, including drafting technical memos to document appropriate tax positions.

- Oversee the preparation of the income tax calculations required for the local country statutory financial statements and corporate income tax reporting.

- Ensure timely and accurate income tax reporting aligned with local country regulations and corporate requirements.

- Build strong cross-functional relationships with finance, IT, supply chain, and external advisors.

- Support tax audits, inquiries, and notices with appropriate documentation and responses.

- Manage, lead and mentor junior tax professionals.

Requirements:

- Bachelors degree in accounting, finance, taxation, or related field (CA, CPA, EA or equivalent certification preferred).

- 7-9+ years of working experience in tax compliance and operations.

- Experience in multinational or global tax environments preferred.

- In-depth knowledge of VAT legislation and statutory requirements.

- Highly adaptable with strong analytical and problem-solving skills; experience with AI or automation technologies is a plus.

- Exposure to ERP systems (e.g. Oracle) and tax reporting tools are desirable.

- Strong knowledge of global direct and indirect tax.

- Knowledge of cross-border transactions and tax implications.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with diverse stakeholders.

- Experience managing a team.
