
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and execute assignments involving various aspects of Direct Tax, including Domestic and International Tax.
- Assist and support Partners and senior team members in managing domestic and international tax engagements.
- Independently handle day-to-day execution of client assignments and ensure timely completion of deliverables.
- Review and oversee the preparation and filing of corporate and individual income tax returns, tax audits and other applicable statutory compliances.
- Advise clients on the applicability and interpretation of relevant tax provisions, amendments and their implications on tax liabilities.
- Undertake tax research on applicable provisions, judicial precedents, tax positions and emerging developments and analyse their applicability to specific client matters.
- Prepare clear and structured tax opinions, advisory notes, submissions and other client deliverables based on the research and analysis undertaken.
- Draft submissions, appeals, replies and other documentation to be filed before the relevant tax authorities.
- Assist in and, where appropriate, represent clients before tax authorities, including Assessing Officers and CIT(A), and coordinate the relevant proceedings.
- Undertake direct tax due diligence reviews, including review of past tax positions, tax records, assessments, litigation, compliance and potential tax exposures, and prepare diligence reports.
- Monitor changes in tax laws, regulations, circulars and judicial developments and assess their impact on clients.
- Ensure that assignments are executed in accordance with applicable tax laws, regulatory requirements and the Firm's quality standards.
- Maintain effective and professional communication with clients and understand their business and tax requirements.
- Identify tax issues and potential risks and proactively communicate them to Partners/senior team members and clients.
- Supervise, review and guide junior team members and ensure quality of work delivered by the team.
- Assist in developing internal training presentations and knowledge-sharing material on recent tax and regulatory developments.
- Contribute to process improvements, knowledge-sharing initiatives and development of the Direct Tax practice.
- Support the Partners in client relationship management, drafting and executing proposals and other practice-development initiatives, as required.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Chartered Accountant / LLB and/or equivalent qualification.
- 5 - 7 years of relevant post-qualification experience in Direct Tax.
- Strong working knowledge of Indian Direct Tax and International Tax provisions.
- Prior experience in tax advisory, compliance, litigation/representation and tax research will be preferred.
- Experience in handling client-facing assignments and independently managing tax deliverables.
- Experience in supervising and reviewing the work of junior team members.
