Supported by the Toronto-based tax team, the role is responsible for preparation of direct and indirect Canadian and US tax returns, REIT compliance testing, estimated tax payments, and tax reporting. In this hands-on role, the Tax Manager will assist in building and growing the Hyderabad tax function, taking on increasing responsibility for tax strategy, controls, and cross-functional coordination.

- Support the US REIT and broader tax compliance activities, overseeing REIT testing workbooks, estimated tax payment schedules, and related remittance support, and resolving complex determinations with external advisors.

- Review tax workpapers for accuracy, ensuring general ledger information is properly reconciled to tax filings, variances are investigated, and supporting analysis is well documented.

- Direct the use of Yardi and other financial information to support state apportionment schedules, HST/GST filings, and other tax reporting requirements, ensuring consistency across the team's work.

- Maintain oversight of recurring tax obligations, ensuring entity information, filing status, deadlines, EINs, W-9 documentation, and current-year tax files remain accurate and current across the portfolio.

- Manage and develop the tax associates responsible for day-to-day filings, and serve as the primary point of contact for reviewers, senior managers, and cross-functional stakeholders on open items and discrepancies.

Qualifications:

- Advanced knowledge of Canadian and U.S. tax compliance, with the judgment to review and guide others' work.

- Analytical mindset and confidence directing detailed financial reviews, resolving reconciling differences, and ensuring workpapers meet audit-ready standards.

- Advanced Excel capability, including formulas, SUMIFS, pivot tables, linked workbooks, and multi-tab files.

- Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage recurring deadlines and competing priorities across multiple entities and team members.

- Confident communicator who can identify issues, ask thoughtful questions, and work effectively with reviewers, colleagues, and cross-functional stakeholders.

Minimum Requirements:

- Qualified CA, CPA, ACCA, or equivalent professional designation, with 6+ years of post-qualification tax experience.

- Demonstrated experience in Canadian or U.S. tax compliance, including multi-jurisdictional or shared-services environments, and comfort working hours aligned with Canadian/U.S. business hours as required by filing deadlines.

- Prior experience reviewing work prepared by others or managing a team.

Preferred Attributes:

- Experience managing tax compliance for a portfolio of Canadian or U.S. real estate entities.

- Prior experience in a Big 4 or global shared-services tax leadership role.

- Working knowledge of Yardi Voyager or similar property management/accounting software.
