Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting & IFRS 17:
- Prepare, review, and analyse financial statements under IFRS 17 and IFRS 9, including disclosures related to insurance contracts.
- Interpret and implement IFRS 17 accounting policies for General Insurance products (short-duration contracts).
- Ensure accurate calculation and reporting as per IFRS 17
- Review journal entries, reconciliations, and movements related to insurance liabilities and revenues.
- Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes under IFRS 17 timelines.
Coordination with Actuarial & Other Teams:
- Work closely with the Actuarial team to understand assumptions, methodologies, and results driving IFRS 17 numbers.
- Bridge actuarial outputs with finance systems and ensure correct accounting treatment.
- Coordinate with Investment, Reinsurance, Underwriting, and Claims teams to ensure data completeness and accuracy.
Regulatory & Statutory Reporting:
- Support statutory reporting (e.g., local GAAP / IRDAI reporting) and explain differences with IFRS 17.
- Prepare regulatory returns, management reports, and board-level financial summaries.
- Assist in responding to regulatory queries and inspections.
Audit:
- Act as a key point of contact for internal and external auditors on IFRS 17.
- Prepare audit schedules, walkthroughs, and documentation supporting IFRS 17 balances.
Systems, Processes & Change
- Support implementation and enhancement of IFRS 17 reporting systems and tools.
- Identify process improvements and automation opportunities in financial reporting.
- Participate in accounting change impact assessments and policy updates.
Key Skills:
- Strong understanding of IFRS 17 requirements specific to General Insurance.
- Sound knowledge of insurance accounting concepts, financial reporting, and disclosures.
- Ability to analyse complex data and explain technical accounting matters clearly.
- Strong coordination and stakeholder management skills.
- High attention to detail with ability to meet tight reporting deadlines.
- Proficiency in Excel; experience with ERP, IFRS 17 engines, or actuarial systems is an advantage.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Qualified Chartered Accountant (CA) / CPA / ACCA or equivalent.
4-8 years of relevant experience in:
- Financial reporting or technical accounting within a General Insurance company, or
- Audit / consultancy experience with strong IFRS 17 exposure.
- Hands-on experience with IFRS 17 is mandatory.
