
Job Description :
The HVAC Design Manager/Senior Manager will oversee the design and engineering of HVAC systems for commercial and industrial projects. This senior-level role requires a highly skilled professional with a deep understanding of HVAC principles, system integration, and project management. The Senior Design Manager will lead a team of engineers, designers, and drafts people to develop innovative, efficient, and sustainable HVAC solutions that meet client specifications and project requirements.
Key Responsibilities :
Leadership & Team Management :
- Lead and manage the HVAC design team, providing technical guidance, training, and professional development. Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment.
Design & Engineering :
- Oversee the design of HVAC systems for new buildings, renovations, and retrofits (Clean room, Pharma, Process & Industrial application). Ensure all designs meet relevant codes, standards, and sustainability requirements.
Project Management :
- Manage multiple HVAC design projects from initial concept through to completion. Develop project timelines, coordinate resources, and ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
Client Interaction :
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, ensuring clear communication of project progress, challenges, and solutions. Address client concerns and ensure satisfaction with the final product.
Quality Control :
- Review and approve designs, drawings, and specifications to ensure accuracy and compliance with industry standards. Perform quality assurance checks throughout the design and implementation phases.
- Collaboration with Other Disciplines : Work closely with architects, structural engineers, electrical engineers, and construction teams to ensure seamless integration of HVAC systems within overall building designs.
- Sustainability & Energy Efficiency : Incorporate energy-efficient designs and sustainability practices into HVAC systems. Stay updated on the latest trends in green building design and LEED certification.
- Budget & Cost Management : Develop cost estimates and manage project budgets, ensuring designs are cost-effective while maintaining high-quality standards.
Skills and Qualifications :
- Education : Bachelor's or Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering/Equivalent.
- Experience : Minimum 12 - 15 years of experience in HVAC design, with at least 5 years in a managerial or senior role. Proven track record of managing HVAC design teams and successful projects.
Technical Skills :
1. Expertise in HVAC design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, Carrier HAP, Trane Trace 700).
2. Strong knowledge of HVAC system types, applications, and energy-efficient technologies.
3. In-depth understanding of building codes, standards, and regulations related to HVAC design (e.g., ASHRAE, NFPA).
- Leadership & Communication : Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to manage, motivate, and develop a diverse team of professionals.
- Project Management : Strong project management skills, with experience in budgeting, scheduling, and overseeing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Problem Solving : Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to troubleshoot complex HVAC system issues and offer creative solutions.
Preferred Qualifications :
- Professional certifications (e.g., LEED AP, ASHRAE membership, PMP certification).
- Experience in large-scale or high-complexity HVAC projects, such as healthcare facilities, data centers, or industrial plants.
Work Environment :
- The role will involve both office-based design work and occasional site visits to monitor projects and collaborate with construction teams.
- Travel may be required for client meetings, site assessments, and project evaluations.
