
Position Name: Manager - Purchase & Stores
The Manager - Purchase and Stores is responsible for leading the procurement and inventory functions for the plant location, ensuring timely, cost-effective purchase and optimal management of materials and stock. The role involves supervising the purchase team (including Purchase Associates and Sr. Executives - Store), managing vendor relationships, monitoring inventory control, and streamlining supply chain processes to support organizational goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage end-to-end procurement of raw materials, consumables, and services in alignment with organizational needs.
- Develop and maintain effective vendor relationships to ensure reliable quality and timely supply.
- Negotiate contracts, pricing, and payment terms with suppliers to secure optimal value for the organization.
- Monitor daily stock levels and ensure timely replenishment of inventory.
- Review and approve purchase orders in line with approved budgets and business requirements.
- Ensure GRN (Goods Receipt Notes) are processed accurately after quality clearance.
- Coordinate with accounts for invoice verification and timely payment processing.
- Ensure proper storage, handling, and issuing of materials as per SOP.
- Conduct regular stock audits and reconcile physical vs. book inventory.
- Generate and analyze reports on procurement, inventory, and vendor performance for management review.
- Ensure compliance with safety, statutory, and company policies.
- Identify opportunities for cost reduction and process improvement.
- Coordinate with internal departments to align procurement with operational needs.
- Oversee disposal of scrap and obsolete materials in a timely manner.
- Maintain accurate records in ERP and ensure data integrity.
Preferred candidate profile:
- 8-12 years of progressive experience in purchase and stores management within manufacturing, FMCG, or related sectors.
- Hands-on experience with ERP systems (e.g., Movex, SAP, Oracle) and advanced MS Excel skills.
- Strong negotiation, leadership, and analytical skills.
- Strategic procurement and vendor management.
- Inventory optimization and stock reconciliation.
- Contract management and cost control.
