Job Title : Procurement Manager -Solar & Battery Storage Equipment

About the Role :

- We are looking for a Procurement Specialist / Procurement Manager with experience in sourcing and supply management for solar PV and battery energy storage systems (BESS) within the Commercial & Industrial (C&I) renewable energy sector. The role involves vendor development, techno commercial procurement, import coordination, contract management, and supply chain optimization for domestic and international projects.

- The candidate should have strong exposure to solar modules, inverters, mounting structures, lithium battery systems, BOS materials, and logistics management in a trading or EPC linked renewable energy business.

Key Responsibilities :

Procurement & Sourcing :

- Source solar PV modules, inverters, BESS equipment, lithium cells, PCS, transformers, cables, switchgear, and balance of system (BOS) materials.

- Float RFQs/RFPs and conduct techno commercial evaluations.

- Negotiate pricing, payment terms, Incoterms, warranties, delivery schedules, and penalties.

- Finalize purchase orders and supplier agreements.

- Develop alternate vendor strategies to reduce procurement risks.

Vendor Management :

- Build and maintain relationships with domestic and international suppliers.

- Evaluate suppliers based on quality, bankability, pricing, lead time, and compliance.

- Conduct supplier performance reviews and maintain approved vendor lists.

- Coordinate with Tier1 and Tier2 manufacturers for long term supply arrangements.

Import & Logistics Coordination :

- Coordinate international procurement from markets such as China, Vietnam, Malaysia, etc.

- Manage shipping documentation including invoice, packing list, COO, BL/AWB, insurance, and LC documentation.

- Coordinate with freight forwarders, CHA, inspection agencies, and transporters.

- Monitor import duties, customs regulations, and port clearances.

Commercial & Contract Management :

- Support procurement planning aligned with project timelines and sales forecasts.

- Ensure compliance with company procurement SOPs and approval matrix.

- Track procurement budgets and identify cost saving opportunities.

- Handle claims related to delays, shortages, transit damages, and warranty issues.

- Support LC, TT, CIF, FOB, and DDP transaction management.

Cross Functional Coordination :

- Work closely with sales, engineering, finance, warehouse, and project teams.

- Coordinate dispatch schedules and inventory planning.

- Support technical evaluation of new products and technologies.

Preferred Product Exposure

Candidates with hands-on experience in procurement of the following are preferred :

- Solar PV modules (TOPCon, Mono PERC, DCR)

- Hybrid inverters and string inverters

- Lithiumion / LFP battery systems

- Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)

- EMS/SCADA systems

- Mounting structures and trackers

- DC/AC cables and switchgear

- Transformers and balance of system components

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor's/PG degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Commerce, or related field.

- Proven procurement experience in solar, renewable energy, electrical equipment, or battery storage.

- Experience in C&I solar or energy storage projects is preferred.

- Understanding of international trade and logistics processes.

- Strong negotiation and analytical skills.

- Proficiency in ERP systems and MS Excel.

Preferred Skills :

- Strong network among key OEMs (local and international).

- Experience with LC documentation and import compliance.

- Sound understanding of solar and BESS technical specifications.

- Cost optimization and vendor negotiation capability.

- Ability to work in a fast paced, project driven trading/EPC environment.

- Excellent coordination and stakeholder management skills.
