Manager - Payroll
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the end-to-end payroll process for a large employee base (5000+ employees) ensuring timely and accurate payroll execution.
- Ensure full compliance with Indian statutory laws including Income Tax, Provident Fund (PF), Employees State Insurance (ESI), Gratuity, Labour Welfare Fund, and other payroll-related regulations.
- Supervise monthly salary processing, bonus calculations, full & final settlements, and leave encashments.
- Collaborate with internal HR, finance, and legal teams to ensure alignment on payroll policies and procedures.
- Liaise with third-party payroll vendors and compliance tools, ensuring SLAs and data security standards are met.
- Handle audits and inspections related to payroll and statutory compliance.
- Continuously update payroll practices in accordance with the latest labor law changes and income tax rules.
- Monitor payroll expenses, prepare reconciliation reports, and support budgeting and forecasting efforts.
- Lead a team of payroll specialists, providing guidance, training, and performance management.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, HR, or a related field.
- 13+ years of experience in payroll management, with at least 7 years handling large-scale payrolls (5,000+ employees).
- Strong knowledge of Indian tax laws, statutory regulations (PF, ESI, Gratuity, LWF), and payroll accounting.
- Experience working with payroll software, ERP systems, and third-party payroll tools/vendors.
- Proven ability to manage sensitive employee data with confidentiality and accuracy.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to manage cross-functional stakeholders.
- High attention to detail and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving payroll issues.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or equivalent payroll/accounting certification.
- Experience in multi-state payroll compliance and global payroll coordination is a plus.
