Manager - Logistics (Strategic Sourcing)
Education : B.E / B.Tech in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering; MBA in SCM/Logistics is a significant advantage
Role Overview :
We are looking for a strategic - Logistics Manager- to oversee and optimize end-to-end supply chain operations. This role involves managing both inbound and outbound logistics, ensuring cost optimization, and maintaining high service standards through expert supplier management and contract compliance.
Key Responsibilities :
1. End-to-End Logistics Management :
- Lead domestic, import, and export transportation across Road, Sea, Rail, and Air.
- Execute FTL/LTL transportation, primary/secondary distribution, and reverse logistics.
- Coordinate with plants and inbound/outbound teams for precise dispatch planning and shipment schedules.
- Optimize freight costs via route planning, transporter negotiations, and load optimization.
- Monitor logistics KPIs, including delivery performance and transit times, while developing MIS dashboards for leadership.
2. RFP/RFQ & Contract Management :
- Engage stakeholders during the pre-tender stage to draft documents and gather inputs.
- Analyze Scope of Work (SOW), rate formats (- /km, slab-based, fuel-indexed), and compliance requirements.
- Conduct bid analysis focusing on rate competitiveness, service capability, and financial stability.
- Award contracts and draft agreements featuring fuel price escalation/de-escalation logic and KPI annexures.
3. Supplier Development & Cost Competitiveness :
- Onboard and manage relationships with logistics suppliers, ensuring digital enablement like GPS tracking and e-POD.
- Drive cost competitiveness by developing lane-wise should-cost models to benchmark pricing.
- Implement fuel indexation and cost pass-through mechanisms to manage market volatility.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and drive corrective actions based on OTIF and damage rates.
4. Compliance & Framework Management :
- Maintain a centralized repository for all logistics framework agreements and rate cards.
- Track agreement validity periods and implement proactive alerts for contract renewals or exits.
- Ensure continuity of service by avoiding contract lapses or the use of expired rates.

Technical Expertise : Comprehensive knowledge of Supply Chain Management, Fleet Management, and Integrated Logistics.
Leadership Traits : A collaborative "Win-Win" approach to vendor management combined with strong analytical skills.
Operational Drive : Proven ability to manage assignments with high ownership and transparency.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) :
Cost Efficiency : Achieve Year-on-Year (YoY) reduction in logistics cost per shipment or per km.
Compliance : Ensure 95% of logistics spend is covered under active, valid framework agreements.
Execution : Achieve - 98% shipment execution accuracy regarding lane, transporter, rate, and schedule.
Service Levels : Maintain - 95% OTIF and ensure - 95% POD submission within agreed TAT (e.g., D+2 / D+3).
