About the Role:
Our client is looking for an experienced Logistics Manager to lead and manage end-to-end logistics and distribution operations within a manufacturing environment. The role will be responsible for foreign trade, transportation, plant-to-warehouse movements, customer deliveries, and Sales & Operations Execution (S&OE).
This position plays a critical role in ensuring compliant, cost-effective, and reliable logistics operations while supporting production continuity, inventory health, and customer service commitments.
Key Responsibilities:
Logistics & Operations Management
- Lead import and export operations in compliance with Indian customs, taxation, and statutory regulations
- Manage inbound logistics for raw materials, components, and packaging materials from domestic and international sources
- Oversee outbound logistics for finished goods from manufacturing plants to depots, distributors, and customers
- Ensure timely execution of dispatches and customer deliveries in line with service-level commitments
- Monitor short-term demandsupply alignment through S&OE and take corrective actions to mitigate production, inventory, or service risks
- Coordinate with transporters, freight forwarders, customs brokers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead and manage teams handling foreign trade, transportation, customer order coordination, and S&OE
- Set clear performance objectives and conduct regular reviews to drive accountability and engagement
- Identify skill gaps and implement structured training and capability development programs
- Foster a safety-first, performance-driven, and collaborative work culture across logistics functions
Performance Management & Continuous Improvement
- Define, track, and analyse KPIs related to logistics cost, delivery performance, inventory turns, and service levels
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance logistics efficiency, reduce costs, and improve delivery reliability
- Implement and sustain operational excellence practices such as 5S, process standardization, safety, and quality improvement initiatives
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with production, planning, procurement, sales, and finance teams to align capacity, inventory, cost, and service objectives
- Support production continuity by ensuring material availability while balancing working capital and customer commitments
- Evaluate trade-offs between customer service expectations, operational feasibility, and cost efficiency
Systems, Compliance & Safety
- Ensure effective utilization of ERP systems (e.g., SAP) for logistics planning, execution, and reporting
- Maintain accurate documentation for imports, exports, transportation, and statutory compliance
- Ensure adherence to safety management systems, plant safety standards, and applicable statutory requirements
- Support internal and external audits related to logistics, trade compliance, and safety
Required Experience:
- 812 years of progressive experience in logistics, supply chain, or operations within a manufacturing or industrial environment
- Minimum 46 years of hands-on experience in import/export operations and foreign trade compliance
- Proven experience managing inbound raw material logistics and outbound finished goods distribution from manufacturing plants
- Prior experience leading transportation networks, including contract negotiation with transporters and freight forwarders
- Demonstrated experience in Sales & Operations Execution (S&OE) or short-term demandsupply coordination
- Experience leading and developing multi-functional logistics teams
- Exposure to cost optimization, working capital management, and service-level improvement initiatives
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Engineering, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Operations, or related disciplines
- Preferred: MBA in Logistics / Supply Chain Management or Operations
Required Skills:
- Strong understanding of logistics and supply chain operations in a manufacturing setup
- Hands-on expertise in customs clearance, import/export documentation, and Indian foreign trade regulations
- Proficiency in transportation management, inventory control, and order execution
- Strong negotiation and vendor management skills
- Experience working with ERP systems (SAP preferred), logistics analytics, and reporting tools
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in English
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in discrete or process manufacturing industries
- Exposure to advanced logistics tools, digitalization, and continuous improvement frameworks
