KEY OBJECTIVE OF THE JOB:
- Responsible for supporting the Head of Internal Audit in overseeing the organization's internal auditfunctions. This includes evaluating the effectiveness of internal controls, risk management, and governance processes.
- The role involves assisting in the development and implementation of the internal audit strategy, leading audit projects, and ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Will work closely with internal business/functional teams and report audit findings to senior management.
MAJOR DELIVERABLES:
1. Audit Strategy & Planning
- Assist in developing and implementing the internal audit strategy aligned with the organization's goals.
- Contribute to the planning, directing, and coordinating of the annual audit plan, ensuring coverage of key risk areas.
- Regularly review and update audit methodologies to reflect emerging risks and best practices.
2. Audit Execution
- Lead and manage the execution of internal audit projects, including planning, fieldwork, reporting, and follow-up.
- Ensure audits are conducted efficiently, with a focus on key risks and controls.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of internal controls, business processes, and risk management practices.
- Engage with internal business/functional teams for timely processing of information to complete the audit.
3. Reporting
- Assist in preparing audit reports for senior management.
- Highlight significant audit findings, risks, and recommendations for improvement.
- Monitor the implementation of audit recommendations and report on the status to relevant stakeholders.
4. Risk Management
- Collaborate with the internal team to identify and assess organizational risks.
- Provide recommendations to improve risk management practices and mitigate risks effectively.
- Support the development of a risk-aware culture across the organization.
5. Compliance
- Ensure the organizations compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and internal policies.
- Stay up to date with regulatory changes and assess their impact on the organization.
- Conduct audits of compliance functions and provide assurance on the effectiveness of compliance controls.
6. Continuous Improvement
- Continuously assess and improve audit processes, incorporating feedback and industry best practices.
- Leverage technology and data analytics to enhance audit effectiveness and efficiency.
- Promote innovation in audit practices and methodologies.
Educational Qualification:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. A master's degree or MBA is preferred.
Certifications:
- Pursuing or holding certifications such as Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Chartered Accountant (CA), or equivalent is preferred.
Years and type of experience:5-8 years of experience in internal audit, risk management, or related fields.
Skills:
- Understanding of internal control frameworks, risk management principles, and governance processes.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
