Role Overview:
We are seeking a seasoned Indirect Taxation professional to join our FMCG operations in Ahmedabad. In this capacity, you will serve as the primary subject matter expert, overseeing the end-to-end compliance framework and strategic tax planning for our diverse product portfolio. You will work closely with cross-functional finance teams, supply chain heads, and external consultants to ensure seamless tax operations across multiple states. By mitigating tax risks and optimizing input tax credit utilization, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing the company's bottom line and ensuring robust governance in a highly dynamic regulatory environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the entire GST compliance lifecycle, including timely filing of returns and reconciliation of GSTR-2A/2B with books of accounts, to ensure zero-penalty operations.
- Lead tax litigation and assessment proceedings by representing the company before tax authorities to protect organizational interests and resolve disputes efficiently.
- Drive tax optimization strategies for supply chain and distribution networks to improve cash flow and reduce the overall tax burden on FMCG operations.
- Provide expert advisory support to internal stakeholders on the tax implications of new product launches, promotional schemes, and vendor contracts to ensure proactive compliance.
- Conduct regular internal audits and health checks of tax processes to identify gaps and implement corrective measures that align with evolving legislative changes.
Required Skillset:
- Demonstrated expertise in navigating complex GST regulations, including place of supply rules, valuation, and reverse charge mechanisms within the FMCG sector.
- Proven ability to manage high-stakes interactions with government authorities and external auditors, backed by strong negotiation and analytical skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail when handling large-volume data sets and ERP-based tax reporting, ensuring absolute accuracy in financial disclosures.
- Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate technical tax matters to non-finance stakeholders and lead internal teams toward compliance excellence.
- A Chartered Accountant (CA) or MBA (Finance) qualification is preferred, complemented by at least 5 to 10 years of progressive experience in indirect tax management.
- Ability to thrive in an on-site work environment in Ahmedabad, maintaining high levels of productivity and collaboration with local and regional teams.
