An HR Manager in a manufacturing setting oversees all human resources functions-recruitment, labor relations, safety compliance, and employee development-to support production goals. Key tasks include managing the shop floor workforce, implementing safety policies, handling union negotiations (if applicable), and optimizing labor productivity to improve manufacturing efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Recruitment & Staffing: Lead high-volume recruitment for production staff and skilled technical roles, ensuring timely onboarding.
- Employee Relations: Serve as the liaison between management and the labor force, manage grievances, and facilitate collective bargaining agreements.
- Safety & Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to factory labor laws, OSHA regulations, and safety policies, including accident investigations.
- Performance Management: Implement performance appraisal systems for workers and staff, driving productivity through skill mapping.
- Training & Development: Identify training needs for machine operation, safety standards, and career development to reduce turnover.
- Compensation & Benefits: Manage payroll, compensation structures, and employee benefits, such as health insurance or shift differentials.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
Education: Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
Experience: Proven experience as an HR Manager, ideally in a manufacturing plant, factory, or industrial environment.
Knowledge:
- Strong understanding of labor laws and industrial relations.
Skills:
- Strong communication, conflict resolution, and leadership skills; proficiency in HRIS and Microsoft Office Suite.
