Health & Safety Manager - Pune Plant
Description:
We have a suitable opening in the Operations Division for the role of Health & Safety Manager, based in Pune Plant. You come with a relevant experience of 5-6 years. The Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Manager will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring groups EHS referential and policies along with compliance to legal regulations. Performs periodic safety inspections and monitors the work processes.
Interacting with a different operational & non-operational department conducting trainings on EHS awareness. Be active support in Monitoring safety compliances and maintaining liaison with appropriate regulatory agencies. Working closely with plant leadership team on long term vision and suggesting corrective action where environmental health and safety hazards exist.
Job Responsibilities:
- Direct EH&S activities including planning, implementing, and managing technical performance to ensure safety and financial objectives of sites are attained.
- Directs EH&S project(s)/actions including implementation and schedule to meet objectives. Directs the development of short and long-term EH&S objectives and recommends goals to the site and area owners.
- Ensures that appropriate corrective action is taken where health and safety hazards exist.
- Directs activities related to EH&S programs and ensures company compliance with any applicable regulations, reviews requirements regarding safety aspects. Maintains all necessary permits for EHS and Regulatory Compliance.
- Collaborates with senior and middle management to develop and implement current and annual technical, schedule, quality, and financial objectives for the EH&S program(s) to ensure strategic business objectives are met.
- Participate in the development of annual and long-term EHS objectives for the organization.
- Represents the site as a primary contact person with line management, senior managers, technical staff, and outside representatives like (DGO & Zone)
- Promotes workplace safety, and assists in the development, maintenance, and management of EH&S programs at the site, including proactive incident prevention, Life risk compliance, contractor safety, and hazardous chemical management etc.
- Completes all regulatory reporting requirements (Fire, EPA etc). Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations and policies.
- To ensure compliance to the Factories Act, 1948 and all other statutory compliance related to EHS management (ISO 45001:2018, ISO 14001:2018, etc.)
C1 Internal use
- Manages and steers Site Safety Committee, builds agenda & reports, follow-ups. Should be responsible for developing strong governance system.
- Compiles, analyses, maintains and interprets safety statistical data concerning occupational illnesses and accidents, first aid incidents, near misses and conduct root cause analysis for accident reports and evaluate injury case studies to build a strong action plan.
- Manage, perform frequent safety walks with department managers, safety committee or Area owners.
- Support Onboarding and Orientation safety training for new employees. Develop and train management and staff in all areas of ISO 45001, 9001 and 14001
- Focus on achieving the highest levels of HSE performance through behaviour-base initiatives, auditing, mentoring and expeditiously implementing change.
- Walk the production floor on a regular basis to establish EHS presence and provide support. Establish a strong daily management system to strengthen EHS inspections, PPE Compliances, Risk Assessments, emergency preparedness of site etc.
- Assist in administering and maintaining Safety tools such as LIFE RISK Management, LOTO, Risk Assessments, Work permit systems, Safety validations, PPE, Ergonomics, Incident Management, Safety Improvement opportunities, Handling & Storage of Hazardous RM and waste etc.
- Should have strong knowledge on ATEX requirements, HAC studies, HAZOP interpretation, Chemical safety (flammable requirements).
- Should have knowledge on overall Chemical Risk Management focusing on Nanoparticles and Flammable raw material handling, practices and subsequent controls.
- Lead several site safety campaigns like Life Risk awareness, National Safety Week, Road Safety week, Annual health check-up etc. and participate at various reward and recognition platforms both internal as well as external.
- Proficient in conducting audits w.r.t various safety standards of electrical management system, management of change, machine guarding, fire safety management, etc. Conduct safety audits and inspections of the workplace to identify potential hazards and safety risks.
- Work closely and collaboratively with HR teams on TNI for each job by nature across site.
- Responsible for reduction in first aids, KPI evolution, and guiding the OHC management of plant.
- Should have strong knowledge and governance on Maharashtra legal requirements and must be able to lead independently audits, and liaison with legal authorities and Groups legal team.
- Responsible for development of EHS improvement Roadmap and definable actions. Involvement of other departments and EHS Budgeting will be the key aspect.
- Coordinates/manages emergency management drills and exercises to test organizations systems and response capabilities.
- Maintain records of safety inspections, audits, and training. Responsible for group reporting towards end of every month.

- Internal Stakeholders Pune and Baddi Plant team, R&I, supply chain, Zone EHS team, DGO EHS teams
- External Stakeholders Suppliers, Vendors, Govt Agencies, Contractors, External agencies and consultants.
Education:
Post-Graduation in Industrial Health & Safety with Advanced Diploma in Industrial Health & Safety
