Job Title: Manager - GST (Indirect Taxation)
Location: Bangalore (Onsite)
Department: Finance & Taxation
Reporting To: Accounts head
Role Overview:
We are looking for an experienced GST professional to lead end-to-end indirect tax compliance, litigation support, reconciliations, and advisory for the organization. The role requires strong hands-on expertise in GST return filings, assessments, departmental audits, and compliance management across multiple registrations.
The ideal candidate will ensure tax efficiency, regulatory compliance, and risk mitigation while supporting business operations and cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities:
1. GST Compliance & Filings
- Preparation and filing of GSTR-1, GSTR-3B, GSTR-9, GSTR-9C, and other applicable returns.
- Ensure timely and accurate GST compliance across all state registrations.
- Manage input tax credit (ITC) reconciliation and optimization.
- Perform GSTR-2A/2B reconciliation and vendor follow-ups.
2. Reconciliation & Controls
Conduct monthly reconciliation between:
- GST returns and books of accounts
- E-way bills and sales registers
- ITC ledger and purchase register
- Identify and rectify discrepancies proactively.
- Strengthen internal GST compliance controls.
3. Litigation & Assessments
- Handle GST notices, departmental queries, and audits.
- Draft replies to show-cause notices and coordinate with consultants.
- Support during GST assessments and departmental audits.
- Track and manage ongoing litigations.
4. Advisory & Business Support
- Provide GST advisory support to business teams.
- Evaluate tax implications on new business models or transactions.
- Review contracts from GST perspective.
- Ensure correct tax classification and HSN/SAC compliance.
5. System & Process Management
- Hands-on experience in SAP (mandatory) or ERP-based GST reporting.
- Ensure correct GST configuration in ERP.
- Drive automation and process improvements in tax compliance.
- Support implementation of system upgrades impacting GST.
Candidate Profile:
- Qualification: CA / CMA / MBA (Finance) preferred
- Experience: 5-8 years in GST / Indirect Taxation
Strong hands-on experience in:
- GST return filing
- ITC reconciliation
- Handling departmental notices
- Multi-state GST compliance
- SAP exposure (mandatory)
- Strong analytical and documentation skills
Preferred Background:
- Experience in manufacturing / trading / multi-entity organizations
- Exposure to large corporate setups
