FINANCE & MIS MANAGER

About the Role:

We are looking for a Finance & MIS Manager to work closely with the CFO and management team. This is a business finance and financial analysis role, rather than a routine accounting or data-entry position. The candidate will be responsible for studying financial information, identifying meaningful insights, developing management MIS, strengthening financial controls and designing and implementing better finance processes. The ideal candidate should have the ability to look beyond the numbers and understand what the numbers are telling the business.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Financial Analysis & Business Insights:

- Analyse monthly and quarterly P&L, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow statements.

- Identify key trends, variances, unusual movements and areas requiring management attention.

- Analyse revenue, costs, margins and profitability across business segments, projects, products, customers or entities, as applicable.

- Identify key cost drivers, inefficiencies, leakages and financial risks.

- Analyse working capital, receivables, payables and cash flows.

- Compare actual performance against budgets, forecasts and previous periods.

- Provide actionable financial insights to the CFO and management.

2. MIS & Management Reporting:

- Design, develop and maintain comprehensive monthly MIS for the CFO and senior management.

- Develop dashboards covering key financial and operational KPIs.

- Prepare meaningful variance and exception analysis.

- Identify what information management needs to monitor the business effectively and develop appropriate reporting.

- Continuously improve the quality, relevance and presentation of MIS.

- Ensure MIS is accurate, timely and supported by reliable underlying data.

3. Process Design & Implementation:

- Study existing finance and accounting processes and identify gaps, inefficiencies and control weaknesses.

- Design, document and implement improved finance processes and workflows.

- Develop SOPs, approval mechanisms, review processes and internal controls.

- Work with accounts, operations, technology and other teams to implement process improvements.

- Monitor whether newly implemented processes are being followed effectively.

- Identify opportunities for automation, standardisation and reduction of manual work.

4. Financial Controls & Governance:

- Review the effectiveness of existing financial controls.

- Identify unusual transactions, inconsistencies and potential financial leakages.

- Establish appropriate checks, reconciliations and approval mechanisms.

- Improve the accuracy, consistency and reliability of financial information.

- Assist the CFO in strengthening the overall financial control framework.

5. Budgeting, Forecasting & Financial Planning:

- Assist in preparation of annual budgets and periodic forecasts.

- Track actual performance against budgets and analyse significant deviations.

- Prepare financial models and scenario analysis.

- Evaluate the financial impact of proposed business decisions.

- Support the CFO in cash-flow planning and forecasting.

6. CFO & Management Support:

- Provide analytical support to the CFO on financial and business matters.

- Prepare presentations and financial analysis for management meetings.

- Conduct specific financial studies and investigations as required.

- Work with accounts, auditors, consultants and other stakeholders where required.

- Take ownership of projects assigned by the CFO and drive them through to implementation.

Candidate Profile:

We are looking for someone who is analytical, commercially minded and process oriented, rather than someone focused only on accounting.

Experience:

- 5 - 8 years of relevant experience in Finance, MIS, FP&A, Business Finance, Financial Analysis or a similar role.

- Prior experience in a mid-sized organisation with an annual bottom line/profitability in the range of 50 - 100 crore will be strongly preferred.

- Should have experience working closely with a CFO / Finance Head / Senior Management.

- Should have independently handled or significantly contributed to MIS, financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting and process improvement.

- Experience in an organisation with multiple entities, business verticals or complex financial operations will be an added advantage.

- Candidates whose experience is primarily limited to routine accounting, bookkeeping, data entry or transactional finance would not be suitable for this role.

This Role Is NOT:

This is not a routine Accounts Manager or accounting data-entry position. The day-to-day accounting function will continue to be handled by the accounts team. The person in this role will be expected to study the financial information generated by the accounts function, derive insights, create meaningful MIS, strengthen controls and design and implement better financial processes.
