Position: Manager - Finance and Accounts

Location: Bengaluru

Job Purpose

To manage the company's finances systematically and efficiently to ensure optimal returns, cost control, timely financial reporting, and compliance with statutes and organizational requirements.

The role is critical in safeguarding the company's interests, supporting fundraising efforts, and ensuring adherence to financial standards and practices.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Management:

- Oversee all financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial reporting, project/programme level utilization.

- Develop and implement financial policies, procedures, and controls to ensure accuracy and compliance.

- Monitor and analyze financial performance, providing regular reports to senior management.

- Prepare and submit Financial Statements in accordance with Accounting Standards, Local Corporate Tax reports, and Other financial reports to Revenue/Statutory authorities/Auditors

- Examine financial accounts for errors & misstatements and establish / enforce proper accounting methods, policies, and principles

- Assess, create, and enhance departmental controls, systems, and practices

- Ensure that financial records, policies, and practices comply with corporate and laws and requirements

Strategic Planning:

- Collaborate with the executive team to develop and implement financial strategies aligned with the company's goals.

- Provide financial insights and recommendations to support decision-making and improve financial disclosures.

- Lead financial planning and analysis (FP&A) activities, including scenario modeling and long-term forecasting.

Investor/Banking Relations:

- Support fundraising efforts by providing financial information to prospective funders/donors.

- Assist in preparing financial proposals, budgets, and impact reports for fundraising campaigns.

- Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders and bankers through transparent communication and reporting.

Auditing and Compliance:

- Lead internal audits to assess the effectiveness of financial controls and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

- Coordinate external audits and ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.

- Ensure compliance with industry standards, government regulations, and tax laws.

- Stay updated on changes in financial regulations and implement necessary changes within the organization.

Team Leadership:

- Manage and mentor the finance and accounting teams, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.

- Oversee recruitment, training, and performance management of finance and accounting staff.

- Promote cross-functional collaboration within the organization to enhance financial performance.

Cost Control and Efficiency

- Implement cost-control measures to improve operational efficiency.

- Analyze and optimize financial processes to reduce waste and improve productivity.

- Oversee inventory management, review and suggest changes to internal control policies and processes affecting finance.

Stakeholder Communication

- Communicate financial performance and strategies to stakeholders, including the board of directors and external partners.

- Build and maintain strong relationships with banks, financial institutions, auditors, and other external stakeholders.

Risk Management

- Identify and mitigate financial risks, including credit, and operational risks.

- Develop and implement risk management strategies to protect the organization's financial assets.

Key Result Areas (KRAs)

- Timely finalization of accounts.

- Effective cash flow management.

- Successful statutory audits with all findings and gaps addressed.

- Compliance with all statutory requirements.

- Control over debtors and managing debtors' aging.

- Smooth operations and balanced resource allocation.

- Staff development and retention.

Qualifications & Experience

- Educational Qualification: Qualified Chartered Accountant (CA) or MBA-Finance

- Experience: CA Around 5+ years of experience,

Non CA: 10+ years of experience,

Experience in a Social Organisation will be an added advantage
