Manager - Engineering

Description:

We are looking for a passionate Engineering Manager to join our core engineering team and help build scalable products and platforms from the ground up.

This role combines technical leadership with hands-on engineering expertise, where you will drive the end-to-end software development lifecycle while mentoring a high-performing engineering team.

You will work closely with product, design, and business stakeholders to deliver robust, scalable solutions and help build innovative technology in the fast-evolving Indian fintech ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities:

- Lead and manage the engineering team, providing technical guidance, mentorship, and support to ensure high performance and productivity.

- Drive the end-to-end software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, architecture, design, development, testing, deployment, and monitoring.

- Collaborate with product management, design, and cross-functional teams to define product requirements and prioritize engineering initiatives.

- Oversee the development of highly scalable, secure, and reliable backend systems.

- Ensure adherence to best practices, coding standards, and quality assurance processes.

- Manage release cycles and deployments, ensuring smooth software releases and coordination with internal and external stakeholders.

- Drive adoption of Agile methodologies, CI/CD pipelines, and modern software development practices.

- Monitor project timelines, manage resource allocation, and ensure successful delivery of engineering projects.

- Participate in hiring, onboarding, and developing engineering talent to build a strong technical team.

- Foster a culture of innovation, ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the team.

- Stay updated with emerging technologies and identify opportunities to enhance the technology stack and product capabilities.

Technical Skills & Qualifications:

- Experience in software development, with experience leading engineering teams.

- Strong expertise in Java and backend development using Spring Boot / Spring Framework.

- Solid understanding of object-oriented programming, data structures, and algorithms.

- Experience designing and building microservices-based architectures.

- Hands-on experience with databases such as PostgreSQL and caching technologies like Redis.

- Experience with containerization and orchestration using Kubernetes.

- Experience working with CI/CD pipelines and release management processes.

- Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Amazon Web Services (AWS) is a plus.

- Strong understanding of system design, scalability, and performance optimization.

- Experience working in fast-paced startup environments is highly desirable.

Basic Qualifications:

- Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage complex engineering challenges.

- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

- Strong sense of ownership, accountability, and teamwork.
