Role Overview:

A leading Management & Professional Services Consulting Firm is looking for a qualified Chartered Accountant to join its Succession Planning & Family Advisory practice. The role involves advising business families, promoters and High Net-worth Individuals (HNIs) on succession planning, estate planning, wealth structuring, family governance and business continuity. The professional will work closely with clients to understand their family, ownership and business objectives and develop practical succession and wealth-transfer structures.

Key Responsibilities:

- The role will involve leading and executing succession and estate planning assignments for business families, promoters and HNIs, including businesses, promoter shareholdings, immovable properties, investments and other family assets. The candidate will analyze family dynamics, ownership structures and commercial objectives to develop appropriate succession strategies.

- The professional will advise on and work with structures and arrangements such as private trusts, Wills, family arrangements, gifts, partitions, Family Charters and holding structures. The role will also cover ownership succession, management succession, business continuity and next-generation transition planning.

- The candidate will be involved in assignments relating to M&A, business restructuring, business sale and pre-IPO/IPO matters, including relevant ownership and promoter-related considerations. The role requires understanding and evaluating implications under Indian tax laws, stamp duty, Companies Act, FEMA, SEBI regulations and applicable succession laws.

- The role may also involve matters concerning NRIs, non-resident trustees or beneficiaries, foreign trusts, overseas foundations and assets held outside India. Candidates may be required to undertake research on overseas tax, succession, estate and inheritance laws and coordinate with international specialists where required.

- The candidate will be responsible for drafting and reviewing trust deeds, Wills, family arrangements, shareholder agreements, Family Charters, technical notes, structure notes and client presentations. The role will involve direct interaction with clients and family members, understanding their requirements and presenting proposed structures and recommendations.

- The professional will also coordinate with tax, legal, regulatory, valuation and transaction specialists to ensure effective implementation of proposed structures and will supervise and guide junior team members working on assignments.

Candidate Profile:

- The ideal candidate should be a qualified Chartered Accountant with 3 - 9 years of post-qualification experience. Candidates with experience in Tax Advisory, International Tax, Transaction Advisory, Private Client Advisory, Wealth Structuring, Estate Planning or Succession Planning will be preferred.

- Strong analytical, research, problem-solving, technical drafting and communication skills are essential. The candidate should be comfortable independently handling assignments, preparing technical recommendations and interacting with clients. Experience of working with business families, promoters, HNIs or family offices will be an added advantage.

- Candidates are not expected to have complete knowledge of every applicable law or regulation at the time of joining. The ability to understand client objectives, identify relevant issues, conduct structured research and develop appropriate solutions while working with broader tax, legal, regulatory and transaction specialists is more important.
