About the Role:
This is a new Business Development Manager role located in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The primary purpose of this role is to build and enhance the market presence across the Middle East, leveraging an already established brand in the trading industry. The candidate will be instrumental in developing strategic business initiatives and managing a team to drive growth in the rice trade sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a specialised sales team to expand the footprint of P.K. Overseas' premium brands across the UAE and MENA region
- Pipeline & Funnel Management: Oversee the full BD lifecycle-from lead genera4on and cold outreach to high-stakes closing. Implement CRM-driven tracking to monitor the team's conversion rates and sales velocity
- Market Dominance: Leverage their 600 M/T daily production capacity to secure high-volume contracts with Tier-1 retailers, government en44es, and large-scale industrial caterers
- Brand Advocacy: Act as a brand ambassador for their Basmati portfolio, educating the market on their advanced Buhler processing standards and the unique "fragrant" qualities of their rice
- P&L Management: Over see the regional rice division's profitability, managing pricing strategies that align with Indian-Agro economic trends and global market fluctuations
- Supply Chain Oversight: Coordinate with their Indian manufacturing hubs to ensure seamless stock flow, maintaining the high quality standards that are a "habit" at P.K. Overseas
- R&D collaboration: Feedback market insights to their R&D team to assist in product Innovation and regional packaging customisation for the Middle Eastern consumer
- Market Intelligence: Conduct deep-dive competitor analysis and monitor Indian-Agro economic trends to advise the Board on pricing and stock-holding strategies
Required Qualification & Experience:
- Experience: 6-8 years in Rice/Commodity trading, with at least 3-5 years in a Team Lead or Managerial capacity within the UAE and MENA market, fluent with middle east markets
- Product Expertise: Deep knowledge of the Basmati industry, including grain lengths, aging processes, and the technical advantages of Buhler-milled rice
- Network: Proven existing relationships with major UAE and MENA distributors
- Strategic Mindset: Proven ability to translate a company's industrial scale into market-leading sales growth
- Communication: Exceptional negotiation skills; fluency in English is required, while Arabic and Hindi are highly advantageous for coordinating between the UAE and MENA market and Indian production units
