Manager - Business Development & Practice Development - B2B Services Firm - IIM/FMS/MDI (5-7 yrs)

The incumbent will be part of a team which is responsible for:

- leading significant strategic change projects across the Firm

- driving business development efforts for the wider Firm

- being repository of relevant market intelligence

- enhancing Firm's branding and profile with efficient internal and external communication


The incumbent will primarily be in charge of supporting and aiding in the development of the Firm's Dispute Resolution practice nationally. As such, he / she will be expected to:

Support all practice development activity including:

- Assisting in formulating a growth strategy for the Dispute Resolution practice

- Be part of conversations with relevant practice partners and identify key deliverables, action items and timelines

- Share market intelligence by researching industry and business trends

- Follow up with relationship teams on meeting/telecon minutes and takeaways

- Tracking engagement with select clients to monitor performance

- Manage internal activities to efficiently deliver on all above

Support business development for the practice:

- Identifying business opportunities and help prioritize on allocation of firm's resources

- Preparing for meetings, researching prior engagements of clients

- Strategise client pitches

- Following up with relationship teams on meeting/telecon minutes and takeaways

- Tracking engagement with select clients to monitor performance

- Coordinating of internal activities to efficiently deliver on all above

Closely engage with trade bodies, industry associations, multiplier agencies and intermediaries:

- Maintain list of top agencies that would be relevant for our promotion as a law firm

- Keep a close tab on events, conferences, webinars proposed

- Ensure good representation of the firm on prime committees and delegations

- Make recommendations on participation and sponsorship proposals

- Actively develop and maintain a deep understanding of the market and the competitive position of the firm through extensive internal and external research.

- Curate strategy to optimize our presence at events with prime speaker and branding


- Commercial bent to convert leads into actionable sale of legal services

- Proactive ability to develop leads and opportunities to meet and connect with clients

- Ability to interact, challenge and influence credibly at senior levels

- Autonomy and ability to run and effectively manage multiple projects at the same time

- Ability to create and maintain efficient tracking tools to pursue business leads


- MBA, preferably in business or project management from a tier I college.

- A law degree with some litigation / arbitration experience may also be considered

- Prior BD or sector / practice support experience in a professional services firm is a must.

- International experience would be a plus.
