- We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Business Development Manager to drive growth and manage strategic relationships within the government sector.
- The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in business development, government liaison, and tender/bid management, with strong knowledge of government procurement processes and policies.
- This role requires a combination of strategic thinking, relationship building, and execution to achieve revenue and business expansion goals.
- The candidate will be responsible for identifying and pursuing new business opportunities, managing end-to-end government sales cycles, and ensuring compliance with government regulations and tendering procedures.
- They will build and nurture strong relationships with key stakeholders in central, state, and local government bodies while representing the organization in official meetings, presentations, and negotiations.
- The role also requires close collaboration with internal teams such as product, legal, and finance to prepare proposals and deliver solutions aligned with government requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify and develop new business opportunities within the government sector
- Manage the entire tendering process including EOI, RFP, RFQ, and bid submissions
- Build and maintain strong relationships with government officials, departments, and agencies
- Track upcoming tenders, government projects, and policy changes to align business strategy
- Prepare and deliver impactful presentations, proposals, and negotiations for government clients
- Collaborate with internal teams to design solutions that meet government requirements
- Ensure compliance with government procurement norms, contracts, and regulations
- Achieve business targets and drive revenue growth in the government vertical
Qualifications:
- MBA preferred
- Minimum 3-4 years of experience in business development with at least 3 years focused on the government sector
- Strong knowledge of government procurement processes, e-tendering portals, and documentation requirements
- Proven track record of achieving sales targets and closing government contracts
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to build networks and maintain long-term professional relationships with government bodies
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Familiarity with e-tendering portals such as GeM (Government e-Marketplace) and CPPP (Central Public Procurement Portal)
- Experience in CRM tools such as Salesforce or Zoho CRM
- Knowledge of contract management and compliance tools
- Understanding of government reporting and documentation standards
