Position: Business Development - Global Ratings
Location: Mumbai

It is a hands-on, high-visibility role in a lean team, working closely with the Business Head and senior management.
Key Responsibilities:
Origination & Pipeline:
- Originate global-scale and international rating mandates from Mumbai-based banks, NBFCs, infrastructure financiers, PSUs, large corporate groups and their offshore entities.

- Position Client for regulatory and investor use cases, including bank capital treatment under RBI ECAI accreditation, investor mandates and IFSC requirements.
- Identify unrated issuers and help them move into the rated universe, articulating how a global-scale rating supports pricing, investor access and fund-raising.
Client & Intermediary Relationships:
- Build and deepen senior relationships across CFO, treasury, risk and credit functions, and with DCM desks, arrangers, merchant bankers, law firms, investors and IFSC Banking Units.
- Manage the client journey from pitch to mandate, information gathering and rating completion, coordinating with the analytical team within the regulatory separation between business development and rating analysis.
- Drive renewals, surveillance continuity and client satisfaction; work with client's coverage teams to source referrals and cross-group opportunities.
Ecosystem, Events & Strategic Initiatives:
- Plan and execute knowledge-sharing sessions and roundtables in Mumbai.
- Support sovereign, multilateral and government-relations initiatives - pitch materials, country briefs, meeting preparation and follow-through.
- Represent Client at industry forums and engage with the GIFT IFSC ecosystem, including regulators, exchanges and market bodies.
Targets, MIS & Governance:
- Deliver quarterly and annual targets on mandates, revenue and pipeline conversion; contribute to the annual business plan, product mix and pricing.
- Maintain the BD action tracker, CRM and sales MIS with disciplined weekly pipeline reporting to the Business Head.
- Track competitive intelligence on global and regional rating agencies, market trends and issuance activity.
- Adhere to IFSCA regulations for credit rating agencies and to internal policies on conflict of interest, confidentiality and code of conduct.
Skills & Competencies:
- Sound understanding of credit ratings, the rating process and the distinction between global-scale and national-scale ratings.
- Working knowledge of debt capital markets, foreign-currency borrowing (ECB framework), bank capital regulation and the GIFT IFSC framework.
- An established network across Global & Mumbai's banking, NBFC and corporate treasury community is a strong advantage but not mandatory requirement.
- Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills; able to draft crisp pitch decks and briefs, and comfortable engaging CXOs and senior officials.
- Proficiency in MS Excel, PowerPoint and Word; experience with CRM/MIS tools.
- Self-driven, target-oriented and comfortable working in a lean, fast-moving team; willing to travel.
- Prior experience in handling business development relating to rating/ grading products for Equity Capital Markets and/or Debt Capital Markets (NCD / CP / CD / Structured Finance).
- Working Knowledge of basic rating / grading products e.g. Corporate Finance Rating / IPO Grading/ Bank Loan Rating/ Mutual Fund Grading.
Experience:
- 2 - 8 years in business development or relationship management with a credit rating agency, investment or corporate bank, DCM desk or treasury advisory.
