Maintenance Head Battery Pack (EV 2-Wheeler)

About the Role:
We are seeking a seasoned Maintenance Head to lead the maintenance operations of a Battery Pack Assembly Line for electric 2-wheelers. This leadership role requires hands-on expertise in automation systems, robotics, and PLC troubleshooting, along with a strong understanding of battery technologies.
You will manage a team of 1520 maintenance professionals, ensuring equipment uptime, driving TPM initiatives, and collaborating closely with production, quality, and automation teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Equipment Uptime & Reliability:
- Ensure smooth functioning of assembly equipment: cell welding, potting, sealing, BMS installation, and EOL testing.
- Troubleshoot robotic systems, PLCs, welders, laser systems, and BMS testers.
- Drive high Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) across all battery lines.
Preventive & Predictive Maintenance:
- Develop preventive maintenance schedules aligned with OEM guidelines.
- Apply predictive maintenance techniques for critical machinery.
TPM Implementation:
- Lead Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) across the battery section.
- Monitor KPIs such as MTTR, MTBF, and downtime reduction.
Team & Vendor Management:
- Supervise a multi-shift team of engineers and technicians.
- Liaise with machine manufacturers and service vendors for AMC, upgrades, and spares.
Process Improvement & CAPA:
- Support quality and production teams in resolving equipment-related defects.
- Lead Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA) for equipment non-conformities.
Documentation & Compliance:
- Maintain logs for maintenance activities, safety checks, and calibration records.
- Ensure compliance with IATF 16949, ISO 45001, and industry safety norms.
Budget & Asset Planning:
- Assist in planning spares inventory, maintenance costs, and future CAPEX investments.
Key Skills & Competencies:
- Strong understanding of battery pack assembly: laser welding, ultrasonic welding, potting, leak testing.
- Knowledge of Li-ion cell handling, BMS functionality, and ESD practices.
- Hands-on expertise in PLC programming and troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with robotics, automation, and vision systems.
- Proficient in TPM, Lean Maintenance, Six Sigma, and 5S practices.
- Excellent leadership, analytical, and crisis management skills.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree or Diploma in Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics, or Instrumentation Engineering.
- Certification in TPM or Lean Maintenance is an advantage.
- Prior experience in EV, Automotive OEM, or Tier-1 supplier environment is highly preferred.
