We are a US-based organisation seeking a highly experienced and visionary Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to bebased in India. An ERPNext implementation is currently underway, led by an external contractor.

The incoming CTO will take full ownership of this project, drive it to completion by end of year, and use it as the foundation from which to grow into comprehensive, organisation-wide technology leadership - spanning both our Indiaoperations and our American branch.

This is a senior executive role with end-to-end ownership of ERPNext delivery, CRM, IT infrastructure, SOPs, and cross-border technology management. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with hands-on Frappe/ERPNext depth and proven people leadership experience.

Key Responsibilities:

Technology Strategy & Leadership:


- Define and execute the organisation's global technology roadmap aligned with business objectives.

- Lead technology planning for both India operations and the US branch from a centralised command in India.

- Drive platform maturity and continuous improvement across all systems.

- Present technology strategies, risks, and roadmap updates to the CEO and US stakeholders.

- Oversee technology operations across India and USA, ensuring consistency, compliance, and performance - including time-zone coordination, remote access systems, and cross-border data governance.

CRM Building & Integration:

- Architect, build, and manage Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems tailored to organisational needs.

- Lead integrations of CRM with third-party tools, marketing platforms, sales pipelines, and ERPNext.

- Ensure CRM data integrity, user adoption, and reporting capabilities across departments.

ERPNext Implementation & Management:

- Take ownership of the in-progress ERPNext implementation currently being built by an external contractor and drive it to a successful, on-time completion by end of year.

- Conduct structured requirements-gathering sessions with department heads across Finance, HR, Supply Chain, Operations, and other functions to ensure ERPNext configuration fully reflects business needs.

- Oversee ERPNext configuration, customisation via Frappe Framework, and Doctype development.

- Drive ERP integration across all business functions.

- Ensure the ERP platform aligns with both Indian regulatory requirements and US compliance standards.

- Manage middleware and integration management layers connecting ERPNext with external tools and platforms.

- The CTO should be responsible for interacting with Department Heads (HR, Finance, Operations, etc.) to understand their needs and convert them into technological solutions.

- Experience in translating business needs into technical solutions, system designs, and process improvements.

AI & Emerging Technology:

- Evaluate and implement AI tools that enhance ERPNext as the platform matures.


Team Building & Leadership:

- This role is required to build, lead and mentor a team of Full-Stack Engineers developers, technical business analysts, and IT helpdesk staff from scratch. The goal is to progressively reduce and ultimately eliminate dependency on external contractors, ensuring that all ERPNext support, development, and system management is handled in-house

- Drive hiring, onboarding, performance management, and professional development of technical teams.

- Build a culture of engineering excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

- Manage team workload allocation, sprint planning, and delivery timelines.

IT Infrastructure (India & USA):

- Build and manage end-to-end IT infrastructure in India - networks, servers, cloud environments, and security systems.

- Remotely manage and standardise IT infrastructure in the US branch from India.

- Evaluate, procure, and implement hardware and software solutions for both geographies.

- Implement cybersecurity frameworks, access controls, firewalls, VPNs, and compliance policies.

- Manage cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and on-premises hybrid setups as required.

SOPs, Documentation & Governance:

- Develop comprehensive Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all IT processes, infrastructure, and software operations.

- Establish IT governance frameworks, change management protocols, and vendor management policies.

- Ensure documentation standards are maintained for system architecture, code, and processes.

Required Qualifications:

Education:

- Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.

Experience:

- 12+ years of progressive experience in technology roles, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership position (CTO, VP Engineering, or equivalent).

- Demonstrated hands-on experience with ERPNext and the Frappe Framework, including Doctype configuration and custom app development.

- Demonstrated experience building IT infrastructure from scratch.

- Hands-on experience with CRM platforms (Salesforce, HubSpot, Zoho, or custom builds).

- Experience managing technology for US-based companies or cross-border organisations.

- Exposure to startup or scale-up environments.

- Prior experience setting up greenfield IT operations.
