Job Summary:
The Logistics Manager will lead and manage end-to-end logistics operations, including inbound and outbound transportation, warehousing, and distribution activities. The role is responsible for ensuring efficient material flow, cost optimization, statutory compliance, and high service levels through strong coordination with internal stakeholders, transporters, and logistics partners.
This position requires a strategic mindset, strong execution capabilities, and hands-on leadership to drive operational excellence across logistics functions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage inbound and outbound logistics operations, including transportation planning, warehousing, and distribution.
- Partner with production, procurement, sales, and finance teams to ensure seamless material flow and alignment with business plans.
- Lead freight negotiations and manage relationships with transporters, freight forwarders, and logistics service providers to achieve optimal cost and service outcomes.
- Ensure timely delivery of raw materials to plants and finished goods to customers, meeting defined service-level agreements.
- Monitor logistics costs, budgets, and performance metrics; drive cost optimization initiatives without impacting service quality.
- Oversee logistics documentation and records, including dispatch notes, invoices, e-way bills, lorry receipts, and Proof of Delivery (POD).
- Ensure full compliance with statutory, regulatory, safety, and taxation requirements related to logistics and transportation.
- Track shipments end-to-end, proactively resolve delays, transit damages, shortages, and customer escalations.
- Oversee warehouse operations, including inventory control, stock accuracy, material movement, space utilization, and FIFO adherence.
- Lead, train, and develop logistics and warehouse teams to improve productivity, accountability, and operational efficiency.
- Identify and implement process improvements, system enhancements, and best practices to strengthen logistics operations.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 7-12 years of progressive experience in logistics or supply chain operations, preferably within manufacturing or process industries.
- Strong hands-on knowledge of transportation management, warehousing operations, and inventory control.
- In-depth understanding of GST, e-way bills, statutory documentation, and transportation regulations.
- Proven experience in freight negotiation, vendor management, and logistics cost optimization.
- Proficiency in MS Excel, ERP systems, and logistics tracking or reporting tools.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder coordination, and team leadership skills.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
