Role Overview:

The Manager - Coking Coal Procurement will lead the end-to-end sourcing strategy for high-quality coking coal, a critical raw material for the company's steel production operations. This role involves navigating complex global commodity markets, managing relationships with international suppliers, and ensuring the seamless delivery of coal to our manufacturing sites. You will work closely with the logistics, finance, and production teams to optimize procurement costs, mitigate supply chain risks, and maintain inventory levels that align with production targets. Your efforts will directly influence the company's bottom line and ensure the uninterrupted operation of our steel plants.

Key Responsibilities:

- Develop and execute comprehensive procurement strategies for coking coal to ensure consistent supply at competitive price points.

- Identify and cultivate relationships with global coal suppliers and trading houses to diversify the sourcing base and ensure quality standards.

- Negotiate complex commercial contracts, including freight, payment terms, and quality specifications, to protect the company's financial interests.

- Monitor global commodity market trends, price indices, and geopolitical developments to provide actionable insights for procurement planning.

- Collaborate with the logistics and shipping teams to manage the end-to-end supply chain, from port of origin to the plant site, ensuring timely delivery.

- Maintain rigorous documentation and compliance standards for all import and procurement activities, adhering to regulatory and internal audit requirements.

- Analyze consumption patterns and production forecasts to optimize inventory management and minimize working capital exposure.

Required Skillset:

- Demonstrated expertise in international commodity procurement, specifically within the coal or steel raw materials sector.

- Strong analytical capabilities to interpret market data, perform cost-benefit analyses, and manage complex supply chain logistics.

- Exceptional negotiation and relationship management skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders and manage high-stakes vendor interactions.

- Proficiency in managing import documentation, customs regulations, and international trade finance instruments like Letters of Credit.

- Ability to thrive in an on-site work environment in Mumbai, coordinating effectively across multiple departments and time zones.

- A degree in Engineering, Business Management, or a related field, complemented by 2 - 10 years of relevant professional experience in procurement or supply chain management/MBA Preferred .
