Position Title: Business Head

Job Summary:

Incumbent will function as Business Head and will be completely and singularly responsible and accountable for all issues, operations and outcomes related to the factory, with primary focus on production and quality of Aluminium (ADC12) and Non-ferrous metals, including end-to-end management of furnaces. He/she will ensure production targets are met with the desired quality and within the permissible production cost. He would also ensure all the machines and equipment are available for continuous production and will be responsible for maintaining a harmonious working environment and performance driven culture across the factory.

Factory Responsibility:

- Hold complete and singular responsibility and accountability for all issues, operations and outcomes related to the factory, with focus on production and quality of Aluminium (ADC12) and Non-ferrous metals.

- Take end-to-end ownership of furnaces operations for Non-ferrous metals, ensuring safe, efficient and uninterrupted functioning at all times.

- Act as the single point of accountability for the factory, liaising with the Business Head and other departments to promptly resolve production, quality, safety and operational issues.

Production:

- Generate and implement production plan based on sales forecasting and past trends.

- Review sales forecasts, customer demands, and schedule production batches based on inventory levels and production lead times.

- Analyse capacity and resource requirements and coordinate necessary adjustments.

- Optimize inventory levels and working capital while supporting targeted Production levels.

- Achieve average production of 800 - 1000 MT and above of ingots monthly, subject to availability of materials.

- Ensure average material yield of 92% and above is consistently achieved.

- Ensure production recovery of 74% and above for Non-ferrous metals.

Planning:

- Assure regular supply of raw materials, keep track of WIP and finished goods stocks levels.

- Work closely on Inventory management and ensure minimum stocks are available as per the requirement and guidelines.

- Preparation of accounting reports for the end of month (inventory, consignment/orders, raw materials, and scrap).

- Follow-up for adequate manpower and machineries are available on shop floor.

Controlling:

- Review daily production and take corrective measures wherever necessary, ensure timely accomplishment of production targets.

- Work regularly with Business Head and do periodic materials planning to ensure there is no loss of production and man-days due to unavailability of raw materials and other supplies.

- Keep control on production cost to ensure better gross margin and profitability through enhancement of lean processes and cost optimization.

- Assure Production team is working as per the productivity norms and cycle time.

- Develop and maintain corrective actions to address root causes of Production related issues.

- Pro-actively act on Slow moving items (Finished WIP and FG).

Industrial Engineering:

- Regular analysis on available machineries and if required recommend for new machines and renovation of existing machines.

- Define production processes stage wise and if needed do lay out designing and manpower planning to ensure optimum production with minimum overheads.

- Ensure the repair and routine maintenance of production equipment and ensure there is no loss of production because of equipment or machine breakdown in the companies under him.

Machines and Production Equipment Management:

- Plan and supervise routine health check-up of machines and production equipment.

- Plan and organize the minor repair and routine/preventive maintenance of machines and production equipment.

- Update maintenance team for any expected fault and/or issue with the machine/equipment to ensure minimum downtime.

- Ensure production plan has calculated/included time for providing machine/equipment for regular and preventive maintenance.

- Drive preventive maintenance calendar and ensure it is adhered rigorously without hampering production process or requiring any extra shut down on working days.

Furnace Operations:

- Ensure optimal operation, monitoring and control of melting and holding furnaces used for casting of Aluminium and Non-ferrous metal ingots.

- Monitor fuel and power consumption in furnace operations and drive initiatives to minimize metal loss during melting and casting.

- Coordinate preventive maintenance schedules of furnaces with the maintenance team to avoid unplanned downtime and production loss.

Manpower Optimization:

- Work on daily, monthly and yearly workforce planning and recommend required quality manpower.

- Conduct manpower cost analysis and ensure manpower cost is under control.

- Ensure expats and local manpower numbers are as per manpower planning.

- Tracking of manpower numbers, sections and segment wise and do optimization of existing manpower before recommending change.

Production Quality:

- Ensure production quality standards are followed in the unit and create awareness and set periodic target to improve and monitor the outcome.

- Ensure quality standards are adhered on production floor in consultations with Quality department and there is no non-compliance in internal and external audits.

- Ensure chemistry, dimensional and visual quality of Aluminium and Non-ferrous metal ingots and rolled products conform to specified standards and customer requirements at every stage of melting, casting.

Health & Safety:

- Ensure all safety equipment are placed as per the standards and statutory compliances.

- All Health, Safety and environment related certification have been completed and there is no NC during any internal or external audits.

- In coordination with Plant HR and Admin conduct regular awareness session to educate production floor workers and relevant staffs to avoid any accidents due to negligence and lack of awareness.

- Ensure sufficient availability of personal protection equipment (PPE) in plant and ensure all the people on production are using them (especially mask, helmet and safety shoes).

People Management:

- Build harmonious and conducive working environment with zero tolerance for any unethical, indiscipline or unrest in the unit.

- Motivate, monitor and manage manufacturing team in a high Growth environment.

- Ensure everybody has defined KRAs and KPIs to provide better role clarity and performance measures.

- Close monitoring of team performance and pro-actively design to enhance their productivity through training & development.

- Instilling company values & behaviors as demonstrated habits in the organization.
