Head - Modern Trade


Description:


Role Overview

The Head Modern Trade will be responsible for leading and scaling Leefords Modern Trade business across PAN India. This is a senior leadership role with complete ownership of national key accounts, including onboarding new modern trade partners, driving revenue growth, managing promotions, ensuring supply chain efficiency, and strengthening strategic relationships with retail giants.

The role demands strong expertise in setting up modern trade accounts from scratch, managing national negotiations, and executing high-impact trade activation strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic & Business Growth:

- Establish and scale new modern trade accounts from scratch across PAN India

- Develop and execute modern trade business strategies aligned with company growth objectives

- Identify new business opportunities and drive sustainable revenue growth

Key Account Management:

- Handle national and regional modern trade accounts such as Reliance, Metro Cash & Carry, Vishal Mega Mart, D-Mart, Best Price, Dabur NewU, and similar chains

- Manage product listings, range expansion, and pricing strategies across all key accounts

- Lead negotiations and generate purchase orders (POs) through buying managers

Sales Operations & Supply Chain Coordination:

- Ensure 100% fill rates by accurate forecasting and close coordination with distributors and supply chain teams

- Monitor distributor stock levels and ensure seamless product availability

- Drive monthly sales targets and account-wise performance tracking

Trade Marketing & Activation:

- Plan and execute trade activation initiatives including:

New product launches

In-store visibility

Promotions and merchandising activities

- Evaluate ROI of promotions and optimize future trade spends

Team & Stakeholder Management:

- Lead and mentor the modern trade sales team

- Collaborate closely with internal teams including marketing, finance, and supply chain

- Build long-term relationships with retail partners and buying teams

Candidate Profile:

- 12 to 15 years of experience in Modern Trade / National Accounts

- Mandatory experience in FMCG / Beauty / Cosmetics / Personal Care industry

- Proven track record of starting and scaling modern trade accounts independently

- Strong negotiation, forecasting, and analytical skills

- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities

- Strategic thinker with hands-on execution capability

- Ability to manage complex client situations and drive long-term partnerships
