
SAP PMO Lead / Manager
Experience Level: 5 - 8 Years
We are seeking a highly organized and experienced SAP PMO Lead/Manager to establish, manage, and govern the Program Management Office functions for large-scale SAP transformation and implementation projects. This role ensures the program adheres to governance standards, tracks progress effectively, and provides clear, actionable reporting to executive leadership.
1. Program Governance and Standardization
- Responsible for defining, implementing, and maintaining program management methodologies, standards, and tools across all project workstreams.
- Governance Structure: Define and enforce program governance, processes, and decision-making frameworks tailored for SAP implementation methodologies (e.g., SAP Activate or ASAP).
- Standardization: Create, maintain, and manage standardized templates for project documentation, status reporting, change requests, and gate reviews.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure all project artifacts, deliverables, and sign-offs meet established quality standards prior to formal submission.
- Tool Management: Oversee and manage the PMO tools ecosystem (e.g., MS Project, Jira, Confluence, PPM solutions) used for scheduling, tracking, and resource allocation.
2. Reporting, Tracking, and Financial Management
- Responsible for providing accurate, timely, and insightful program status and financial health reporting to all levels of the organization.
- Status Reporting: Consolidate data from technical and functional workstreams to create comprehensive weekly/monthly Executive Dashboard reports highlighting status, key milestones, and critical risks.
- Schedule Management: Monitor and track the overall integrated project plan, identifying dependencies, critical path conflicts, and potential timeline slippages.
- Financial Oversight: Actively manage and track the program budget, including actual spend, forecasts, burn rates, and variance analysis against planned costs.
- KPI Management: Define, track, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to project health, quality, and resource utilization.
3. Risk, Issue, and Change Management
- Facilitate structured processes for identifying, escalating, and resolving impediments to program progress.
- Risk Management: Drive proactive risk identification sessions with workstream leads, maintain the centralized risk register, and ensure mitigation plans are assigned and tracked.
- Issue Resolution: Oversee the Program Issue Log, manage the triage and escalation process for cross-functional issues, and ensure timely resolution to minimize program impact.
- Change Control: Manage the Program Change Request (PCR) process, ensuring formal documentation, impact analysis, and approval are obtained for all scope, budget, or schedule changes.
Required Qualifications & Experience
Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business Administration, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Experience: 5-8 years of experience in a Program/Project Management or PMO role, with a minimum of 4 years dedicated to supporting large-scale SAP implementation or migration projects.
- Certifications: Professional certification such as PMP, PRINCE2, or PgMP is highly desirable.
- Technical Skills: Deep proficiency in standard project management software (e.g., MS Project, Excel, PowerPoint) and experience creating executive-level presentations.
- Soft Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, proven ability to interact and influence senior-level stakeholders (Director, VP, Partner), and strong critical thinking abilities.
Must Have:
- Must have minimum of 4+ years dedicated solely to the PMO function for large-scale SAP implementation or migration projects
- Must have hands-on experience managing the three core governance mechanisms: the Program Issue Log, Risk Register, and formal Change Request (PCR) process.
- Must have Financial Oversight and Tracking including actual spend, forecasts, burn rates, and variance analysis
- Ability to define and enforce governance standards and decision-making frameworks specifically tailored to SAP implementation methodologies
