Job Title: Lead - Learning & Development (New Hire Excellence)
About the Role :
We are looking for an L&D Lead who will own the end-to-end learning experience for new hires across the organisation. This is a high-impact role that sits at the intersection of talent, culture, and performance - responsible for ensuring every new joiner is set up to contribute faster, integrate deeply, and stay longer.
What You Will Own
New Hire Onboarding Architecture :
- Design, build, and continuously improve the full onboarding journey - from pre-joining through the first 90 days
- Create structured induction programs that cover culture, product, process, and role-specific knowledge
- Build differentiated onboarding tracks for different functions, levels, and geographies
- Establish clear milestones and checkpoints at Day 1, Day 30, Day 60, and Day 90
Learning Content & Curriculum Design :
- Develop engaging learning content - e-learning modules, facilitator guides, job aids, assessments, and video-based learning
- Work with subject matter experts across business functions to convert tacit knowledge into structured learning materials
- Maintain and refresh content to keep it current with business changes, product updates, and policy revisions
Programme Delivery & Facilitation :
- Facilitate new hire orientation sessions, functional bootcamps, and role readiness workshops
- Build and manage a network of internal trainers and business champions who co-facilitate onboarding
- Partner with external vendors where specialised content or delivery is required
Measurement & Impact :
- Define learning effectiveness metrics - assessment scores, time to productivity, 90-day retention, manager satisfaction scores
- Run post-onboarding surveys and feedback loops to continuously improve the programme
- Report programme outcomes to HR leadership and business stakeholders on a regular cadence
Stakeholder Management :
- Partner closely with Talent Acquisition to create a seamless candidate-to-employee experience from offer acceptance onwards
- Work with Business Heads and Hiring Managers to align onboarding content with functional expectations
- Collaborate with HR Business Partners to identify role-specific capability gaps in new hires and address them through targeted learning
Who We Are Looking For :
Experience :
- 6-10 years of experience in Learning & Development, with at least 3 years specifically owning new hire onboarding or induction programs
- Demonstrated experience designing learning journeys end-to-end - from needs analysis through delivery and measurement
- Experience working in a fast-paced, high-volume hiring environment preferred
Skills :
- Strong instructional design capability - ability to structure complex information into clear, engaging learning experiences
- Hands-on experience with LMS platforms (Cornerstone, Darwinbox, Leapsome, or similar)
- Proficiency in e-learning authoring tools (Articulate Storyline, Rise, or equivalent) is a plus
- Strong facilitation and presentation skills - comfortable in front of large new hire cohorts
- Analytical - able to interpret learning data and translate it into programme improvements
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
Mindset :
- Obsessed with the new hire experience - you believe the first 90 days determine the next 3 years
- Data-driven - you measure everything and trust numbers over opinions
- Builder mentality - comfortable creating from scratch, not just maintaining what exists
- Collaborative - you work through and with people, not around them
Key Metrics You Will Be Measured On :
- New hire 90-day retention rate
- Time to full productivity (role-specific benchmarks)
- New hire satisfaction score (Day 30 and Day 90 survey)
- Onboarding completion rate across cohorts
- Manager rating of new hire readiness at Day 90
Qualifications :
- Graduate in any discipline
- Postgraduate degree or certification in HR, Organisational Psychology, Instructional Design, or Education preferred
- Certifications in L&D (CPTD, ATD, or equivalent) are an advantage
