Role Overview:

As a senior leader in the Health Underwriting function, you will be responsible for defining the risk appetite and underwriting strategy for our health insurance portfolio. You will work closely with product, actuarial, and sales teams to balance aggressive business growth with sustainable loss ratios. This role is pivotal in shaping the company's health insurance offerings, ensuring that our risk assessment models are both competitive and financially sound while maintaining compliance with regulatory standards. You will act as a subject matter expert, guiding the underwriting team and influencing strategic decisions that directly impact the company's bottom line and market positioning.

Key Responsibilities:

- Design and implement comprehensive underwriting guidelines for health insurance products to ensure profitable portfolio growth and risk mitigation.

- Oversee the end-to-end underwriting process for complex cases, providing technical guidance to the team to ensure accurate risk assessment and timely decision-making.

- Collaborate with the actuarial team to analyze claims data and loss trends, adjusting underwriting parameters to reflect evolving market risks.

- Manage relationships with reinsurance partners, ensuring optimal treaty structures and compliance with risk transfer agreements.

- Monitor portfolio performance metrics and loss ratios, proactively identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective measures.

- Mentor and develop a high-performing team of underwriters, fostering a culture of technical excellence and analytical rigor.

- Ensure strict adherence to IRDAI regulations and internal compliance policies across all underwriting operations.

Required Skillset:

- Demonstrated expertise in health insurance underwriting, with a deep understanding of risk assessment, pricing models, and product structuring.

- Proven ability to lead and mentor large teams, with a track record of managing high-stakes underwriting operations in the general insurance sector.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data sets to drive strategic business outcomes.

- A minimum of 10 to 20 years of professional experience in the general insurance industry, specifically within the health underwriting domain.
