KPMG - Role: Textile Sectoral Lead - Economic Growth Practice

Experience: 10+ years

Sector Focus: Textiles (Wool preferred)

Location: India (travel as needed)

1. Role Summary:

We are looking for a Textile Sector Expert to support government and development-sector projects within KPMG's Government & Public Sector Advisory team. The role includes sector analysis, policy advisory, program design, and implementation support across Textiles, Wool, Handloom, and related areas.

2. Key Responsibilities:

A. Sector Advisory:

- Lead studies on textile value chains, clusters, and sector performance.

- Develop sector strategies, policies, and schemes-especially for Wool, Handloom, and MSMEs.

- Advise government clients on competitiveness, modernization, exports, and sustainability.

B. Government & Policy Consulting:

- Prepare policies, DPRs, concept notes, and implementation frameworks.

- Support large economic growth programs for State/Central Governments and multilaterals.

- Work with departments like MoT, DPIIT, MSME, and State Textile Missions.

C. Program Management:

- Oversee project planning, execution, budgeting, and reporting.

- Work closely with government departments, industry bodies, FPOs, and research institutions.

- Support initiatives such as cluster development, infrastructure upgrades, skills, and technology adoption.

D. Stakeholder & Client Engagement:

- Build strong working relationships with government officials and sector stakeholders.

- Conduct workshops, field visits, consultations, and technical discussions.

- Represent KPMG in meetings, forums, and industry events.

E. Internal & Team Leadership

- Develop sector knowledge, tools, and frameworks within the practice.

- Mentor junior team members.

- Contribute to proposals, business development, and solution design.

3. Qualifications:

Education:

- Master's in Textile Engineering (preferred) OR Master's in Economics

- Bachelor's in Textile Engineering is mandatory (if master's is not in textile)

Experience:

- 10+ years of professional experience

- Minimum 5 years in the textile sector (Wool experience preferred)

- Experience working with Government projects is an advantage

- Prior consulting experience is required

4. Skills & Competencies:

- Strong understanding of textile processes, value chains, and market trends.

- Ability to draft policies, DPRs, and strategic documents.

- Solid project management and team leadership skills.

- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.

- Comfortable working in fast-paced consulting environments with travel.

5. Preferred Background:

- Experience with MoT schemes, handloom/wool clusters, textile missions or R\&D centers.

- Knowledge of sustainability, circular textiles, and technical textiles.

- Exposure to multilateral-funded projects (World Bank, ADB, UNDP, etc.).
