Job Description :

Location : Kanpur

Position : MSME Team Lead (Manager) - IIDA

Band : Manager level (senior consultant within Government and Public Sector practice)

Role Summary : Lead the MSME portfolio for IIDA, driving program design and delivery for industrial infrastructure, MSME development, and investment promotion initiatives.

The role requires endto-end ownership of project delivery, stakeholder management with central/state government agencies, and building a highperforming team to execute multisector interventions.

Key Responsibilities :

- Program Leadership : Lead design, planning, and implementation of MSME and industrial development programs; ensure alignment with government objectives and funding agency requirements.

- Project Delivery : Manage project lifecycle - inception, stakeholder consultations, diagnostics, strategy formulation, implementation support, and monitoring & evaluation.

- Stakeholder Management : Build and maintain relationships with government departments, PMUs, industry associations, and funding partners; represent the firm in highlevel meetings.

- Team Management : Hire, mentor, and manage a multidisciplinary team; allocate resources, set priorities, and ensure timely delivery of outputs.

- Technical Advisory : Provide subject matter expertise on industrial policy, MSME ecosystems, cluster development, and investment promotion; prepare policy briefs, concept notes, and technical reports.

- Quality and Compliance : Ensure technical rigor, compliance with procurement and reporting norms, and adherence to donor/agency guidelines.

- Business Development : Support proposal development, client pitches, and benchmarking exercises to grow the MSME practice.

Required Qualifications and Experience :

Educational Qualification :


- Postgraduate degree in Economics, Social Sciences, Public Administration, or Business Management. MBA/PGDM from a reputed national/international institute preferred.

- Overall Experience : Minimum 10 years of professional experience.

- Domain Experience : At least 3 - 4 years working on industries, MSME, or multisector programs.


- Government Exposure : Prior experience delivering projects for Central or State Government entities or working within government programme frameworks.

- Delivery Track Record : Demonstrable experience in managing project teams and delivering clientfacing advisory outputs.

Preferred Experience and Competencies :

- Handson Program Management : Proven track record of managing and leading government programmes endto-end.

- Sector Knowledge : Deep understanding of industrial infrastructure, MSME development, cluster approaches, and investment promotion mechanisms.

- Consulting Experience : Experience with public sector consulting firms or advisory organizations is highly desirable.

- Stakeholder Engagement : Strong ability to navigate government processes, secure buyin, and manage multistakeholder environments.

- Team Leadership : Experience in hiring, coaching, and performance managing consultants and field teams.

- Analytical Rigor : Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills; ability to synthesize complex data into actionable recommendations.

- Communication : Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to prepare highquality reports, presentations, and policy notes.

Compensation, Performance Indicators and Application :

- Experience Band : 10 to 15 years (typical hire between 10-15 years; exceptional candidates up to 18 years may be considered).

- Performance Indicators : Timely delivery of project milestones; stakeholder satisfaction scores; successful mobilization of resources; team retention and capability building metrics.
