Reports To: Managing Director / Director

1. Position Overview:

The GM - HR & Administration will lead and strengthen the HR, IR, and administrative functions of a growing steel manufacturing company. The role requires deep experience in manpower management, statutory compliance, performance management, organizational development, and IR handling to ensure smooth operations and sustainable growth.

The incumbent will serve as a strategic business partner and will be responsible for building a disciplined, skilled, and high-performing workforce.

2. Key Responsibilities:

A. Human Resource Management:

- Develop and execute HR strategies aligned with company goals.

- Lead employee engagement initiatives to improve retention and productivity.

- Prepare and implement HR policies, SOPs, and guidelines.

B. Performance Management & Organizational Development:

- Design, implement, and monitor KPI & KRA frameworks.

- Drive the Performance Management System (PMS) across the organization.

- Implement structured appraisal systems and ensure fairness and transparency.

- Develop and strengthen organization design, role clarity, and accountability ownership.

- Create and maintain a skill matrix aligned with competency gaps and training needs.

- Lead training programs for technical, behavioural, and leadership development.

C. Industrial Relations (IR) & Statutory Compliance:

- Maintain harmonious industrial relations with workers, supervisors.

- Handle grievances, disciplinary actions, and domestic enquiries professionally.

- Ensure full compliance under the Factories Act and applicable labour laws (PF, ESIC, Bonus, Gratuity, LWF, etc.).

- Coordinate with government departments, statutory authorities, labour inspectors, and legal consultants.

D. HR Operations & Systems:

- Oversee payroll processing, attendance systems, and leave management.

- Ensure 100% accuracy in personnel files, MIS reports, and HR analytics.

- Digitize HR processes and support ERP/HRMS implementation.

- Supervise onboarding, induction, and exit management processes.

E. Administration Management:

- Manage security, housekeeping, canteen, transport, hostel, and welfare facilities.

- Monitor administrative budgets, vendor contracts, AMC agreements, and service quality.

- Implement cost-control initiatives and optimize HR & Admin operational expenses.

- Ensure safety, discipline, and cleanliness across plant premises.

- CSR activities.

3. Desired Candidate Profile:

- MBA/PGDM in HR or equivalent qualification.

- 12-18 years of experience in HR & Admin, with minimum 8 years in steel/metals/heavy manufacturing.

- Strong understanding of labour laws, IR, and factory operations.

- Experience managing 500800 workforce setups.

- Ability to design effective HR systems (PMS, KRA/KPI, skill matrix, policy frameworks).

- Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, and decision-making skills.
