Job Summary:
The Head - Visual Merchandising will own the end-to-end store experience driving VM, in-store brand storytelling, and space productivity. This role will also oversee New store opening design execution, ensuring consistency and speed. This role will require the candidate to rollout campaigns at all stores. This role sits at the intersection of designs, retail operations, marketing and commercial performance.
Job Description:
The key responsibilities of Head - Visual Merchandising would include, but are not limited to the following:
Visual Merchandising and Brand Experience:
- Define and evolve VM strategy and guidelines aligned to distinct Customer value proposition.
- Own store zoning, planogram principles, sightlines, adjacencies, and traffic flow to maximize conversion and basket value.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including marketing, product development, and retail operations to ensure consistency in brand messaging and visual presentation.
- Develop and implement visual merchandising strategies to enhance the overall brand image and drive sales.
- Drive seasonal, festive, and campaign-led VM storytelling in the stores.
- Analyse sales data and customer feedback to make informed decisions on product placement and visual displays.
- Stay updated on industry trends and competitor activities to continuously improve and innovate our visual merchandising strategies.
New Store Ownership:
- Lead end-to-end VM and experience readiness for NSOs, from concept to launch.
- Partner with projects, architects, and store planning teams on spatial layouts, structural elements, and customer journey design.
- Oversee fixtures, props, graphics, signage, in-store communication, and navigation systems.
Technical and Design Leadership:
- Strong command over store layouts, bay logic, fixture design, materials, lighting basics, colour theory, and typography.
- Ability to read and influence GFCs, CAD drawings, elevation plans, and mockups.
- Own VM cost optimization, material standardization, and vendor rationalization without compromising brand experience.
- Leverage data (sales density, heat maps, category productivity) to refine VM decisions.
People Capability and Governance:
- Lead and mentor the Stores team and ensure all stores are consistently and effectively merchandised according to company standards.
- Build strong cross-functional alignment with marketing, supply chain, Products and projects.
- Establish VM audit frameworks, SOPs, and training modules for store teams.
- Drive a culture of design thinking, experimentation, and commercial accountability.
- Manage and track visual merchandising budget and expenses.
Preferred Candidates:
- Design background from NIFT / NID with more than 15 years of experience in Visual merchandising in similar industry.
- Should have strong understanding of Retail jewellery business and customer behaviour.
- Willingness to travel to stores and events.
