Job Summary:
- We are seeking a qualified and motivated Ecologist to support ecological and biodiversity studies across a range of environmental and infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in flora and fauna surveys, biodiversity assessments, and ecological monitoring, along with strong analytical and reporting skills.
- The Ecologist will contribute to baseline surveys, Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA), Natural Systems Reports , biodiversity impact evaluations, and the preparation of ecological documentation in compliance with international and regional environmental standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Project & Technical Delivery
- Conduct ecological baseline surveys for flora and fauna, including identification of rare, endangered, and threatened species.
- Prepare ecological resource inventories, habitat maps, and biodiversity monitoring reports.
- Support the preparation of Environmental impact assessment and biodiversity impact assessment reports, ensuring compliance with project and regulatory requirements.
- Evaluate project designs against ecological and biodiversity conservation guidelines, and recommend mitigation or offset strategies.
- Implement and monitor biodiversity management and habitat restoration plans.
Client & Stakeholder Coordination
- Support Design Team Leads in managing client expectations related to ecological and biodiversity studies.
- Respond to client clarifications and technical queries in coordination with internal teams.
- Assist in conducting stakeholder engagement sessions, awareness programs, and biodiversity workshops.
Internal Process & Knowledge Management
- Ensure high-quality, cost-effective delivery of ecological studies and outputs.
- Upload deliverables into the knowledge management repository as per company protocols.
- Participate in training, capacity building, and continuous learning to enhance ecological expertise.
Qualifications & Technical Competencies:
- Master's degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, Botany, Zoology, or Natural Resource Management.
- Strong knowledge of taxonomy, biodiversity survey techniques, and ecological monitoring methods.
- Experience with biodiversity databases (e.g., IUCN Red List), GIS-based habitat mapping, and ecological modelling tools.
- Understanding of international ecological conventions and frameworks (CBD, IUCN, etc.).
- Excellent quantitative analysis, report-writing, and presentation skills.
- Proficiency in English communication (verbal and written).
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in ecological monitoring, biodiversity offsetting, or habitat restoration.
- Exposure to ecosystem services assessment, landscape ecology, and Gulf region biodiversity.
- Familiarity with statistical analysis tools (e.g., R, SPSS) for ecological datasets.
- Ability to contribute to capacity building and environmental awareness programs.
