
Role Overview :
This pivotal role is central to optimizing the firm's operational backbone by overseeing the Matter Centre of Excellence (COE). The Assistant Manager/Manager will be responsible for the end-to-end lifecycle management of matter master data, ensuring its integrity, consistency, and accessibility across various internal systems. This position collaborates closely with legal teams, finance, and IT to streamline processes, enhance data governance, and provide critical insights that support strategic decision-making and improve overall service delivery to clients. The role significantly impacts the firm's efficiency, compliance, and ability to leverage data for strategic growth.
Key Responsibilities :
- Develop and implement robust data governance frameworks for matter master data, ensuring compliance with internal policies and industry best practices for enhanced data reliability.
- Manage the complete lifecycle of matter master data, from creation and enrichment to archival, maintaining accuracy and consistency across all platforms for precise legal and financial reporting.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including legal practitioners, finance, and IT, to define data standards, resolve data discrepancies, and optimize data entry processes for operational efficiency.
- Lead initiatives for data quality improvement, identifying root causes of data issues and implementing corrective actions to enhance the reliability of data for business intelligence and operational excellence.
- Design and generate comprehensive reports and dashboards on matter data metrics, providing actionable insights to senior management for strategic planning and resource allocation.
- Drive continuous process improvement within the Matter COE, leveraging technology and best practices to enhance the efficiency and scalability of data management operations.
- Provide training and support to end-users on matter data management policies and systems, fostering a culture of data ownership and accountability across the firm.
Required Skillset :
- Proven expertise in Master Data Management (MDM) principles and practices, specifically within a professional services or legal environment, demonstrating a deep understanding of data governance, data quality, and data lifecycle management.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with a track record of identifying complex data-related challenges and implementing effective, scalable solutions.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging effectively with diverse stakeholders, including senior partners, legal professionals, and technical teams, to drive consensus and adoption of data standards.
- Proficiency in data analysis tools and enterprise systems relevant to master data management, with an ability to translate complex data requirements into practical operational workflows.
- A bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Information Technology, or a related field from a reputable institution; an MBA or relevant professional certification is a significant advantage.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, managing multiple priorities and projects with a high degree of accuracy and meticulous attention to detail.
