Role Summary
The Key Account Manager is an individual contributor responsible for driving aggressive sales and managing strategic relationships for the company's health insurance products.
This role demands a strong sales orientation, deep product knowledge, and the ability to execute effective Agent Recruitment and Direct Sales strategies within the competitive insurance industry landscape.
The incumbent will be crucial in developing the sales pipeline, ensuring regulatory compliance, and maximizing customer satisfaction and retention within their assigned accounts and channels.
Primary Responsibilities
Sales Strategy & Execution:
- Develop and rigorously implement a strategic sales plan designed to achieve and exceed challenging sales targets specifically for health insurance products.
- Execute core sales activities including Direct Sales to customers and strategic Agent Recruitment to expand the distribution network and generate volume business.
- Actively manage the end-to-end sales pipeline, ensuring all sales activities, forecasts, and conversion metrics are accurately tracked, analyzed, and reported to management.
- Employ advanced sales techniques and strategies (e.g., consultative selling, value-based selling) to effectively position and sell complex health insurance products.
Relationship Management & Retention:
- Create, maintain, and strengthen long-term relationships with key customers and channel partners to maximize product penetration, ensure high levels of customer satisfaction, and drive retention rates.
- Focus on continuous improvement in service delivery to bolster customer loyalty and leverage existing relationships for referrals and up-selling opportunities.
Product Knowledge & Compliance:
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive, technical knowledge of all health insurance products and services offered by the company, including policy features, pricing, underwriting requirements, and claims processes.
- Stay continuously informed and up-to-date with industry trends and regulatory requirements related to the health insurance sector, ensuring all sales practices are fully compliant.
Core Competencies:
- Demonstrate exceptional Communication Skills and utilize strong sales and negotiation skills in all interactions, from closing deals to managing channel conflicts.
- Exhibit strong organizational capabilities, demonstrating the ability to work independently and manage a demanding schedule efficiently to meet deadlines.
Required Key Skills
- Sales Experience: Minimum of 210 years of experience in sales, with a strong preference for candidates from the insurance industry.
- Product Knowledge: Demonstrable knowledge of the health insurance industry and products, including specific understanding of regulatory requirements (e.g., IRDAI guidelines).
- Communication & Negotiation: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, coupled with strong, verifiable sales and negotiation skills.
- Autonomy & Organization: Proven ability to work independently, manage a large sales territory or account base, and possess good organizational skills.
- Channel Sales: Functional understanding of different distribution models, specifically Channel Sales and agent management.
Preferred Skills
- Education: Possession of a relevant Master's degree (MBA).
- Licensing: Relevant IRDAI certification or license to sell insurance products.
- CRM Proficiency: Hands-on experience with CRM software (e.g., Salesforce, Microsoft Dynamics) for sales pipeline management and reporting.
- Territory Management: Proven track record in successfully managing and growing a designated geographical territory.
- Experience in conducting sales training and product education for agents and channel partners
