Description:
Logistics Strategy and Planning:
- Develop and execute the companys logistics and distribution strategy in alignment with broader business goals.
- Lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of logistics processes, ensuring optimal efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
- Monitor and evaluate key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess operational performance and implement corrective actions when necessary.
Team Leadership and Development:
- Lead, mentor, and develop the logistics team, including warehouse staff, transportation teams, and supply chain planners.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and high performance within the logistics department.
- Ensure appropriate staffing levels to meet operational demands and business objectives.
Logistics Operations Management:
- Oversee end-to-end logistics functions including warehousing, transportation, inventory management, and order fulfillment.
- Ensure timely and accurate deliveries, while maintaining control over costs and efficiency.
- Manage relationships with third-party logistics providers (3PL), freight forwarders, and other external vendors to ensure high-quality service delivery.
Inventory Control & Optimization:
- Implement inventory control best practices to minimize stockouts and excess inventory.
- Ensure optimal inventory levels across all warehouses and distribution centers to meet demand.
- Collaborate with procurement and sales teams to forecast demand and plan logistics accordingly.
Budgeting & Cost Management:
- Develop and manage logistics department budgets, ensuring costs are kept within planned limits.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities in the logistics process, such as optimizing routes, consolidating shipments, and negotiating better rates with suppliers.
Compliance and Safety:
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and international regulations for transportation, warehousing, and customs.
- Oversee safety protocols in warehousing and logistics operations, ensuring a safe working environment for all employees.
- Manage environmental and sustainability initiatives related to transportation and packaging.
Technology & System Integration:
- Leverage logistics management software and other technological tools to improve operations, track shipments, and manage inventory.
- Work closely with IT teams to implement system upgrades and ensure smooth integration of logistics software with other business systems.
Reporting and Analysis:
- Prepare regular reports for senior management on logistics performance, including key metrics such as on-time delivery, order accuracy, and transportation costs.
- Provide data-driven insights to optimize logistics operations and improve decision making.
Continuous Improvement:
- Stay up to date on logistics industry trends, technologies, and best practices, incorporating them into the companys logistics strategies.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency, reduce costs, and improve customer satisfaction.
