
What you'll do:
1. Structured Finance & Transaction Execution
- Provide legal advisory and ensure compliance with applicable laws in structuring and executing local currency debt transactions, securitizations, and portfolio financing structures across East Africa.
- Draft, review, and negotiate transaction documents for blended finance and credit enhancement structures involving DFIs, philanthropic capital, and private investors.
- Oversee legal aspects of issuing local bonds, structured notes, and asset-backed facilities for partner financial institutions and fintech platforms.
- Ensure financial modelling, credit analysis, and transaction structuring are legally sound and aligned with regulatory frameworks.
2. Capital Raising & Investor Engagement
- Originate and maintain legally compliant relationships with local banks, pension funds, asset managers, and international impact investors.
- Prepare, review, and validate investment memoranda, credit notes, and deal structures to ensure enforceability and adherence to legal standards.
- Support investor roadshows and due diligence processes, ensuring compliance with disclosure obligations and investor protection laws.
3. Partnerships & Ecosystem Development
- Collaborate with DFIs, multilateral agencies, and development partners to mobilize capital for inclusive finance, ensuring compliance with international financing regulations.
- Draft and negotiate partnership agreements with local financial institutions, MFIs, SACCOs, and fintech companies to structure scalable funding solutions.
- Provide legal oversight for technical assistance programs and grant-funded initiatives, ensuring contractual obligations and intellectual property rights are protected.
4. Financial Analysis & Risk Structuring
- Apply Kaleidofin's risk analytics and credit scoring tools within the framework of applicable legal and regulatory standards.
- Evaluate transaction economics, portfolio performance metrics, and credit risk profiles, ensuring compliance with financial regulations.
- Draft and review legal documentation for structured lending facilities and blended finance vehicles.
5. Strategic Initiatives
- Contribute to market expansion strategy in East Africa by identifying opportunities for structured capital solutions within the bounds of local and international law.
- Support proposal development for grant funding and catalytic capital programs, ensuring legal compliance with donor requirements.
- Produce market research and investor insights, ensuring that all publications and communications adhere to legal and regulatory standards.
Who you need to be?
- 5-8 years of experience in structured finance, investment banking, DFI financing, or credit markets.
- Should be law graduates or have completed a postgraduate program in Law.
- Strong interest in fintech, digital payments, and financial services.
- Work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities, with experience preparing reports and presentations.
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment where strategic thinking and initiative are valued.
