Role Overview:
The Director of Engineering will provide strategic, technical, and people leadership across multiple product engineering teams. This role involves driving end-to-end delivery excellence, fostering a high-performance culture, and ensuring seamless collaboration between engineering, product, and business stakeholders. The candidate must have a strong background in technology leadership, product engineering, team management, and operational oversight.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
1. Engineering Management:
- Lead and manage day-to-day development activities across 23 product-based Scrum teams.
- Collaborate with Tech Leads, Product Managers, and Business Analysts to create and execute product roadmaps.
- Ensure adherence to best practices in SDLC, quality assurance, cloud, DevOps, security, and code governance.
- Oversee and drive the release management lifecycle for all assigned products and platforms.
- Proactively assess engineering risks, dependencies, and delivery bottlenecks and provide actionable solutions.
- Monitor and optimize team velocity, sprint health, and long-term technical sustainability.
- Act as the primary escalation point for engineering concerns, ensuring quick resolution and customer satisfaction.
- Ensure documentation, architecture diagrams, and knowledge base are consistently updated.
2. People & Leadership:
- Mentor and guide junior and mid-level engineers, creating a high-trust, high-performance work environment.
- Act as the go-to leader for all engineering talent in the Jaipur DC.
- Foster a strong culture of ownership, innovation, collaboration, and process excellence.
- Recommend and implement improvements to engineering processes and development workflows.
- Encourage continuous improvement, conduct performance reviews, and provide constructive feedback.
3. Operations & Coordination (Approx. 5% involvement):
- Align with central operations and accounts teams to identify facility requirements, procurement needs, and resource planning for the Jaipur DC.
- Support budgeting for engineering tools, infrastructure, and local operational needs.
- Ensure compliance with organizational operational standards and help execute location-specific initiatives.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- 15+ years of hands-on experience in software development and engineering leadership roles.
- Proven experience managing multiple Scrum teams in a product-based environment.
- Strong knowledge of modern engineering practices: cloud platforms, microservices, DevOps, CI/CD, automation, testing frameworks, design principles, and scalable architectures.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills with ability to communicate effectively across teams, leadership, and clients.
- Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and conflict-resolution abilities.
- Experience handling escalations, release cycles, technical risk management, and delivery governance.
- Ability to influence technical direction and inspire engineering teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience in a Director/Associate Director/Engineering Manager role.
- Exposure to US-based clients or global delivery models.
- Certification in Scrum, Agile, or Cloud (AWS/Azure/GCP) is a plus.
- Experience working in a rapidly scaling product or technology organization.
