The Lead Development Manager is responsible for end-to-end ownership of software delivery, technical direction, and people management of the development team. This role ensures that business requirements are translated into scalable, secure, and high-quality software solutions, delivered on time and aligned with company objectives.

The role demands strong leadership, deep technical understanding, and strict accountability.


Key Responsibilities:


1.Leadership & People Management:

- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of software developers (frontend, backend, full-stack).

- Assign work based on skillsets, project priorities, and timelines.

- Conduct regular one-on-one meetings, performance evaluations, and feedback sessions.

- Identify skill gaps and plan training, mentoring, and upskilling.

- Handle performance issues, discipline, and corrective actions as per company policy.

- Build a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement.

2. Delivery & Project Ownership:

- Own complete project delivery from requirement understanding to production release.

- Break down requirements into tasks, define milestones, and track progress.

- Ensure accurate estimations, sprint planning, and deadline adherence.

- Proactively identify risks, dependencies, and blockers; resolve them efficiently.

- Ensure minimal rework and maximum delivery efficiency.

3. Technical Oversight & Architecture:

- Review and approve system architecture, database design, APIs, and integrations.

- Enforce coding standards, best practices, and security guidelines.

- Oversee and participate in code reviews to maintain quality and consistency.

- Guide developers on design patterns, performance optimization, and scalability.

- Take final technical decisions in alignment with company standards.

4. Quality, Process & Compliance:

- Define and improve development processes (Agile / Scrum / Kanban as applicable).

- Ensure proper usage of version control, CI/CD pipelines, and deployment workflows.

- Enforce testing standards (unit, integration, regression, UAT coordination).

- Ensure documentation of systems, APIs, and development guidelines.

- Maintain compliance with data security, confidentiality, and company policies.

5. Cross-Functional & Stakeholder Coordination:

- Collaborate with Product, QA, DevOps, Support, and Management teams.

- Translate business requirements into clear technical deliverables.

- Provide regular progress updates, risks, and reports to management.

- Participate in client or internal technical discussions when required.

6. Ownership & Accountability:

- Take full accountability for team output, timelines, and production stability.

- Ensure quick resolution of production issues and root-cause analysis.

- Maintain high availability, performance, and reliability of systems.

- Act in the best interest of the company at all times.

Required Skills & Qualifications:


- Technical Expertise

- Strong hands-on experience in modern development stacks (e.g., .NET / Angular / databases).

- Solid understanding of system architecture, API design, and integrations.

- Experience with relational and non-relational databases.

- Familiarity with cloud platforms, Docker, CI/CD, and deployment practices.

Leadership & Management Skills:

- Proven experience leading and managing development teams.

- Strong decision-making, problem-solving, and ownership mindset.

- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

- Ability to balance technical depth with business priorities.

Experience:

- 7-12+ years of software development experience.

- 3-6+ years in a leadership role (Team Lead / Development Manager).

- Experience in product-based or SaaS environments preferred.
