Job Overview
We are seeking a seasoned and strategic leader to join our team as Associate Director/ Director of Public Policy and Government Relations. It requires an individual with deep experience in navigating the complex regulatory landscape of India. You will act as the primary bridge between our organisation and key government stakeholders, driving policy advocacy, regulatory compliance, and strategic partnerships.

Focus Work Areas
This role will concentrate on the following critical pillars:
- Strategic Advocacy: Drive the organisation's interests by working on public policy and regulatory frameworks.
- Stakeholder Ecosystem: Cultivate robust networks with stakeholders, industry bodies, think tanks, and civil society organisations. Generate discussions and opinions.
- Global Outreach and Best Practices: Bridge the gap between our policy standards and global standards through international outreach and knowledge exchange.
Key Responsibilities
1. Core Public Policy & Government Relations
- Policy Analysis & Strategy: Monitor and analyse legislative and regulatory developments. Develop comprehensive position papers and advocacy strategies to align on objectives.
- Engagement: Act as the lead for government-related crisis management, ensuring rapid and effective communication to communicate challenges and resolve issues
- Internal Advisory: Advise internally on the political and regulatory climate, ensuring continuous exchange of initiatives.
2. State-Level Responsibilities
- State Engagement: Build and maintain active engagements with State stakeholders across priority states, aligned to objectives.
- Collaborate with local administration to communicate any initiatives or resolve any issues.
- Actively participate in state-level consultation processes
3. International Outreach Program
- Global Stakeholder Engagement: Lead the International Outreach program by engaging with international stakeholders as aligned with our objectives.
- Global Policy Alignment: Work with our global colleagues on international advocacy strategies aligned to our objectives.
- Cross-Border Advocacy: Participate in bilateral business and trade discussions and engage with advisors and associations to build cross-border advocacy aligned to our objectives.
4. Policy Communications
- Drive policy communications objectives by engaging with key stakeholders and generating commentary through alliances and partnerships.
Qualifications & Skills Required
Experience
Mandatory:
- Minimum 14-15 years of progressive experience in Public Policy, Government Affairs, or Corporate Affairs.
- Proven track record of working with Central and State Governments in India.
- Proven track record of working on international, cross-border advocacy projects.
- Experience in managing international stakeholders or working in a multinational corporate environment is highly desirable.
Education
Preferred: PG degree in any discipline. (Degrees in Public Policy, Law, Political Science, and Economics are advantageous but not mandatory if experience is strong).
Key Competencies
Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to draft high-quality policy briefs and government representations.
Strategic Thinking: Ability to connect the dots between political shifts and strategic objectives.
Mobility: Willingness to travel extensively as required.
