
Job Description:
Role Purpose:
To drive end-to-end safety governance for Delivery Riders, Frontline Maintenance teams, and Store teams, ensuring safe working practices, regulatory compliance, and zero-harm operations across Dominos Indias large retail footprint.
Core Focus Areas:
- Rider Safety (Primary Focus)
- Frontline Maintenance & Vendor Safety
- Cluster Manager / Store Leadership Safety Ownership
Key Responsibilities:
Rider Safety Management (Critical Accountability):
- Own and implement Rider Safety Standards across stores and clusters.
Ensure compliance on:
1. Helmet usage (quality, ISI compliance, chin strap use).
2. Rider uniform and high-visibility safety gear.
3. Safe riding behaviour, speed norms, and defensive riding practices.
- Conduct regular rider safety audits, ride-along checks, and on-road spot verifications.
- Analyse rider accident, injury, and near-miss data; conduct RCA and CAPA.
Partner with Ops and HR to drive:
1. Rider onboarding safety induction.
2. Periodic refresher training and behavioural interventions.
- Track and reduce rider accidents, insurance claims, and downtime.
Frontline Maintenance & Technical Safety:
- Ensure safety compliance for maintenance technicians, electricians, HVAC, gas pipeline, and equipment vendors.
Drive implementation of:
1. Permit-to-Work systems.
2. Lock-Out / Tag-Out (LOTO) procedures.
3. Electrical safety, ladder safety, gas safety protocols.
Conduct safety audits during:
1. Breakdown repairs.
2. Preventive maintenance.
3. Store refurbishments and minor civil works.
- Ensure all technicians use PPE and safe work methods.
- Validate contractor safety documentation and certifications.
Cluster Manager & Store Leadership Safety Enablement:
- Make Cluster Managers (CMs) accountable for safety standards across stores.
Build CM capability to :
1. Identify safety risks proactively.
2. Conduct store-level safety checks.
3. Enforce rider and maintenance safety discipline.
- Provide simple, executable safety dashboards for CMs.
Support Store Managers and CMs during:
1. Serious incidents.
2. Regulatory inspections.
3. Escalations related to accidents or unsafe practices.
Retail Store Safety (QSR Context):
Implement safety controls for:
1. Kitchen equipment (ovens, fryers, hot surfaces).
2. LPG cylinders, pipelines, and leak detection.
3. Electrical panels and appliances.
4. Slips, trips, falls in BOH and FOH.
- Ensure stores follow daily / weekly / monthly safety checklists.
Incident, Accident & Emergency Response:
Lead investigation of:
1. Rider accidents.
2. Store injuries.
3. Maintenance-related incidents.
- Conduct root cause analysis and drive preventive actions.
- Lead fire drills, evacuation drills, and emergency simulations at cluster level.
Training, Communication & Safety Culture:
- Design and conduct focused training for:
1. Riders (road safety, accident prevention).
2. Maintenance teams (electrical, gas, height safety).
3. Cluster Managers & Store Managers (safety leadership).
Enable a strong Safety is Non-Negotiable culture across frontline operations.
Compliance, MIS & Governance:
Ensure compliance with:
1. Shops & Establishments Act.
2. OSH Code.
3. Motor Vehicle safety norms (rider context).
4. Fire and electrical safety rules.
- Maintain:
1. Rider incident MIS.
2. Maintenance safety records.
3. Store and cluster safety dashboards.
- Support audits, inspections, and regulator interactions.
Key Success Metrics:
- Reduction in rider accidents and injuries.
- Compliance % on helmet and safety gear usage.
- Reduction in maintenance-related incidents.
- Safety audit scores across clusters.
- Training coverage for riders, maintenance, and CMs.
Qualifications & Experience:
Education:
- Bachelors Degree (Engineering / Science preferred).
- Diploma / Degree in Industrial Safety / Fire & Safety (Mandatory).
Experience :
- 712 years of safety experience in QSR, Retail, Logistics, Delivery, FMCG, or Field Operations.
- Strong exposure to rider / field workforce safety preferred.
- Experience working with Cluster / Area / Multi-unit retail leadership.
Skills & Competencies :
- Strong understanding of rider safety and field workforce risk.
- High field orientation; comfortable with extensive travel.
- Practical problem-solving mindset (not policy-only).
- Ability to influence frontline teams and managers.
- Strong audit, investigation, and MIS capability.
