Jean Martin - Associate - Investment Banking

Job Overview:

Jean Martin is looking for an experienced Associate - IB/PE to join its Financial Research team in Mumbai.

The role offers exposure across public and private equity investment processes, supporting global investment banks, private equity funds, hedge funds, and venture capital firms. The Associate will work in a fast-paced, client-driven environment, leveraging qualitative and quantitative research for buy side or sell side transactions, while leading teams and managing client engagements.

Key Responsibilities:

- Lead multiple projects for our IB, PE, VC, and HF clients, overseeing a team and taking full responsibility for the delivery of project workstreams

- Work in a fast-paced, ambiguous, and often multi-directional work environment

- Manage client relationship, build business and communicate with portfolio managers/investment bankers on live deals.

Guide a team of analysts to:

- Prepare robust financial and valuation models for public and private equity investments (M&A, LBO, etc.)

- Prepare deal pitch-books, preparing stock screening based on quantitative and qualitative metrics, credit analysis, ad hoc industry studies, risk analysis, ESG analysis, etc.

- Conduct in-depth industry and company research to generate insights and investment opportunities.

- Write qualitative research reports on company and industry including thematic notes, company initiation notes, earnings notes, and events-based notes.

Skills & Competencies:

- Well-developed commercial mindset with proven client relationship and stakeholder management skills

- Strong financial modelling expertise with a solid grounding in accounting and financial fundamentals

- Strong PowerPoint skills to create CIMs, pitch decks, teasers for M&A and Capital Raise transactions

- Strong team management and leadership capabilities

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills

- Highly analytical thinker with strong research skills

- Ability to work effectively under tight deadlines
