Strategic Buyer

Description:

Job Summary

The Senior Strategic Buyer at Jabil is a pivotal role responsible for the end-to-end development and execution of global supply chain strategies. This role goes beyond transactional purchasing to focus on strategic sourcing, total cost of ownership (TCO) reduction, and supplier relationship management. You will work at the intersection of customer requirements and Jabils global commodity strategies to ensure material availability, maximize cost efficiency, and mitigate supply chain risks in a fast-paced electronics manufacturing environment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

- Execute Jabils Supply Chain Management (SCM) initiatives by developing a robust supply base for Business Unit (BU) strategic materials.

- Collaborate with customer engineering and procurement to influence their Approved Manufacturers List (AML). Your goal is to migrate customers toward Jabils qualified and strategic suppliers to leverage global scale.

- Make data-driven sourcing choices based on a holistic view of cost including price, duty, freight, lead-time flexibility, quality, and payment terms.

- Proactively track and optimize Purchase Price Variance (PPV) and Material Price Variance (MPV). You are responsible for limiting unfavorable variances and driving year-over-year cost down.

- Issue Purchase Orders based on terms, conditions, and pricing negotiated by Jabil Commodity Managers. Ensure all World Wide Purchasing Agreements (WWPA) are strictly honored.

- Initiate and lead Request for Quote (RFQ) activities, analyzing results with Material Quotation Analysts (MQAs) to provide strategic recommendations to customers.

- Ensure seamless material availability to support production schedules through rigorous MRP (Material Requirements Planning) execution.

- Coordinate the movement of materials from receiving to production, identifying potential bottlenecks or shortages before they impact the customer.

- Optimize the order lifecycle to improve communication speed and accuracy between Jabil and its global supplier base.

- Continuously evaluate suppliers on a "Scorecard" basis, focusing on delivery, quality, and service levels.

- Lead efforts to resolve recurring or critical supplier issues using Corrective Action (CAPA) tools and root-cause analysis.

- Act as the primary interface between Jabil and the supplier to communicate quality standards and delivery expectations.

Job Qualifications:

- Expert knowledge of ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and Jabil-specific software packages.

- High proficiency in PC skills (MS Office Suite, specifically Excel) with the ability to interpret complex data sets and present them via bar graphs and pivot tables.

- Solid understanding of international trade, including Incoterms, duties, and global freight logistics.

- Ability to write professional correspondence and effectively present strategic plans to small groups, customers, and executive leadership.

- Ability to solve complex problems involving multiple variables in non-standardized situations.

- Negotiation: Strong ability to influence both internal stakeholders (Engineering, Finance) and external partners (Suppliers, Customers).

Education & Experience Requirements:

- Education: Bachelors / master's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Materials Logistics, or a related field.

- Experience: 3 to 8 years of experience in materials planning, or strategic procurement.

- Certification: Professional certification such as APICS (CPIM/CSCP) or ISM (CPSM/CPM) is highly preferred.

- Travel: Ability to travel both domestically and internationally to visit supplier sites or Jabil production facilities.
