Job Summary:We are seeking an experienced and strategic Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) to partner with our leadership team and accelerate our growth. Our current team has strong operational capabilities in marketing and sales, but we require a seasoned leader to provide the strategic vision, planning, and expertise needed to scale our efforts effectively. You will be instrumental in professionalizing our marketing operations, enhancing brand visibility, and building a structured, data-driven customer acquisition engine.
Key Responsibilities:As our CMO, you will be the primary architect of our marketing strategy. This is a hands-on role that requires both high-level thinking and a pragmatic approach.
1. Strategic Planning & Goal Setting:- Develop a marketing roadmap with clear, measurable goals for brand awareness, customer acquisition cost (CAC), and customer lifetime value
- Define our brand positioning and key messaging to ensure it resonates with our target audience
- Lead the annual and quarterly marketing planning process, including budget allocation and channel prioritization (e.g., social, email, paid search, influencer marketing).
2. Performance & Data Analysis:- Establish a robust marketing analytics framework. This includes defining key performance indicators (KPIs), setting up dashboards, and implementing attribution models to accurately measure the ROI of all marketing channels.
- Conduct regular performance reviews of all marketing initiatives, providing strategic insights and data-driven recommendations to the leadership team.
- Use market and customer insights to identify new growth opportunities, product improvements, and messaging refinements.
3. Team & Vendor Management:- Evaluate the current internal marketing team and provide mentorship to elevate their skills in strategic planning and execution.
- Advise on talent needs, including crafting job descriptions for future hires (e.g., a junior marketing manager, a content specialist).
- Vet and manage relationships with external agencies and freelancers (e.g., a PR firm, a paid media agency) to ensure they are aligned with our strategic goals.
4. Customer Acquisition & Retention:- Optimize and scale our primary acquisition channels [e.g., Instagram Ads, TikTok, Google Ads] while also experimenting with new channels.
- Develop a comprehensive content strategy that drives organic traffic, builds community, and nurtures leads.
- Enhance our customer retention efforts by improving our email marketing, loyalty programs, and community engagement strategies.
Desired Qualifications & Experience:- Marketing Leadership: A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in marketing, with at least 3-5 years in a senior leadership role (Director, VP, or CMO), preferably within a B2C e-commerce or consumer-focused startup environment.
- Proven Scalability: A track record of successfully scaling a consumer brand
- Data-Driven Acumen: Deep expertise in marketing analytics platforms (e.g., Google Analytics, HubSpot, a custom CRM) and a strong ability to translate data into actionable strategies.
- Channel Expertise: A broad understanding of the consumer marketing landscape, with specific expertise in at least any the following areas: paid media, content marketing, SEO, email marketing, or social media.
- Operational Excellence: Experience with building and managing marketing budgets, forecasting, and establishing repeatable processes.
- Communication & Influence: Exceptional communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate a vision and influence a wide range of stakeholders, from founders to junior team members.
